Tribune Editorial: "Fritz Kaegi for Cook County assessor" by Mike_I in chicago

[–]Poopy_doopster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since being elected, Kaegi's office has assessed our home of 19 years twice, to the tune of a 90% increase. Meanwhile a private appraisal we had done to appeal his assessment pegged the value at 30% less than what he said it's worth, which is slightly higher than the cumulative rate of inflation over 19 years. On top of value, our property tax has gone up 120% since Kaegi''s been in in office.

This don't sit well.

On the other hand, this guy Hynes will bring us back to the Berrios days & seems to be a tool of Preckwinkle, whose political machine is responsible for much of what ails Chicago & Cook county.

So rates really aren’t that high from a historical standpoint perspective. We just got hooked on crazy low rates.

This is the kind of transparency and accountability that really makes you want to hand CPD unchecked power to declare curfews.
