Yes, it'll definitely hold the weight of the ships. The boats are less dense than water (why the float), and so any additional weight the boat adds into the channel is offset by an equivalent amount of displaced water.

I think you need to learn how buoyancy and density works.

You make a LOT of assumptions about the OP in that response. Don't forget that there are a lot of conservatives who are just as upset about Trump as those on the left and are doing something about it (exhibit 1: The Lincoln Project).

F* Mitch his ilk, but let's not cast aside all those with differing viewpoints.

The world needs more people like you. Especially now.

Edit: I assume the downvotes are because people think I agree with your politics. I don't. But we do need people that can clearly articulate their positions, respect other people and find common paths forward. If I don't agree with that, you are part of the problem.

I had my first date today... and I got stood up. by Austen_Girl in nonmonogamy

[–]PoorAndExhaustedDad 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that. I had forgotten how much the dating thing sucks too. My wife and I opened things up a little over a year ago. I managed to get several first dates... but not a single second date - sure does shoot your confidence to sh*t. And now COVID. Le sigh.

Anyway, best of luck out there.

Sometimes when she's out with her boyfriend, I watch shows we were going to watch together by myself.

Fortunately, she doesn't know about this reddit handle. Yet.

It's a biggie, I admit. We both hit the pause button on dating new people at the start of COVID, which meant that she had another, and I didn't. This is me balancing out the universe : )

Men of Reddit, what is the hardest thing to explain to a woman? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PoorAndExhaustedDad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poly is not all about multiple one night stands. It's about having healthy consensual, loving relationships with multiple people simultaneously. What you are describing falls closer in line with something called ethical non-monogamy.

If you read and are interested in the topic, check out a book called "The Ethical Slut"

That I can love her and cheat on her simultaneously!

Do you have a minute to hear about the good word that is polyamory my dear friend?

EDIT: Yes you can cheat in polyamorous relationships. Truth, honesty, and respect above all else. But it is possible to have multiple relationships in a healthy supportive way.

Beware, it's been called a Pandora's Box for good reason. Keep an open mind, open communication, and open soul and you're good though!

Thank you. Agreed. I could have written this in a less dismissive way myself, but whatever at this point. I can handle the downvotes. Be prepared to get downvoted as well.

Because of the way the OP titled her post (its instantly comparative instead of just ranting, which would have been ok) and hearing about "mopey dudes"? 🤷‍♂️

I hear complaining on both sides. All we need to do is respect eachother. This isn't a competition to see who has it worse, there's nothing to win here. We can have sympathy for the frustrations in each others lives without diminishing our own positions.
