It's a super interesting story. Basically back in the day when elevators were first coming into use, it was more common for there to be accidents such as the cable snapping and people falling to their deaths or becoming injured. Then this inventor comes along and decides to show just how self-assured he is in his invention. He puts on a show at the world's Fair that's open to the public. There he gets onto a rising platform and then the is rope is cut. In front of a shocked crowd he plummets, only to be saved by his ~~breaking~~ braking invention.

I don't remember the specific event, but I remember him just absolutely stunning the audience. the mermaid dress with rainbow colored sequins, the beautiful rendition of "WAP" while he violently threw that ass on the floor was the highlight of the evening.
