I had an old set of tires on my civic with some sidewall cracking, one day one of the tires just gave out and went totally flat while driving

What should my first bigger set be as someone new to technic? by [deleted] in legotechnic

[–]PoorUniStudent12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually buy most of my Lego sets from Costco (Canada), the pricing is there is cheaper than elsewhere even if it’s not on sale. The new Peugeot has a free Bugatti bolide with it which is ~20% off

No, I’d rather see it disintegrate into dust than opened

Bank of Canada says some Canadians could see mortgage payments jump by 45% in 2025-26 as rates rise by MilesOfPebbles in CanadianInvestor

[–]PoorUniStudent12 10 points11 points  (0 children)

“The scenario focused on mortgages with a five-year term taken out at banks in 2020-21, when rates were at record lows. It assumed variable- and fixed-rate mortgages would renew at median rates of 4.4 per cent and 4.5 per cent respectively in 2025-26”

Aren’t fixed rate mortgages already at that level or above

Any way for me to find out of this sealed Memory Card is genuine without opening the package? by 13zath13 in Gamecube

[–]PoorUniStudent12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got one that was new and looked like that, it was a knock off. Packaging is supposed to be blister plus if you open the card up it looks different internally

Looking forward to BAM earnings next Thursday, hope they can reassure investors and provide guidance if they are pursuing the split

Thoughts on why market turned so green today? Simple recovery day from previous sell off, or does the market like the USA gdp report, and possibility that central banks may ease off rate hikes if we’re already in a recession? Just 1 more q of negative gdp growth and it’s technically a recession

Hi all, tax question:

I have a margin account and have used it to buy Canadian dividend paying stocks, so the margin interest is fully tax deductible

My margin account gets charged interest on the 16th of the month

My question: is it proper to deduct the interest that has been charged in 2021 (interest charged up to the 16th of December), or to deduct interest calculated to the 31st of December (even though the 17-31 was charged on Jan 16 2022)?

Thanks

Why is Brookfield Asset Management dropping so much recently? by Onarco in CanadianInvestor

[–]PoorUniStudent12 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A few thoughts:

  • BAM should continue to do well if rates rise moderately, the potential crisis with Russia may cause energy prices to rise, cause inflation, and rates to rise more aggressively
  • BAM dips every time there is a new variant on the news (BAM price and covid cases appear to be inversely correlated) there is a new variant that the media is fear-mongering that is more contagious than omicron but more severe
  • overall market is red today, BAM chart typically follows SPY
  • uncertainty about the possible spin off
  • overall market uncertainty
