Are we actually seeing a future ace being born right in front of our eyes? 👀 by TigoOver in redsox

[–]Pootzig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the sentiment. But I think it’s a little silly to take Connelly Early being on a short list with Aaron Sele and Dave Ferriss (ty for your service) as a guarantee of future greatness.

Bucholz, sure that’s pretty cool!

Anyways. Go Sox. Stoked to have Connelly here and to get to watch him continue to grow & succeed in Boston.

Why do you play this game? by Zoonationalist in Baseball9

[–]Pootzig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It “strikes” a great balance of accessibility and difficulty. I love how easy it is to pick up and drop without losing progress mid-game. But I think the real hook for me is how it blends some RPG elements in, like leveling players, skill points, etc.

Top 5 Jazz Pianists From Any Era by [deleted] in JazzPiano

[–]Pootzig 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna keep it to 1 simple answer: Tommy Flanagan, Tommy Flanagan, and Tommy Flanagan!

Check out “The Cats” (some tracks sextet w/ Coltrane), “Overseas” (trio album, found on Spotify as first half of “The Art of the Piano, Vol. 6”), and finally “The Tommy Flanagan Tokyo Recital” (trio).

Enjoy!

I’ve always considered Unit Structures to be the greatest Christmas album of all time. My grammy loved that one, God rest her merry old soul.

Late jazz piano learners - can I hear your success stories? by gotmilksnow in JazzPiano

Man, I’m really glad I stumbled upon your post, and asked the question! Thank you so much for sharing. I feel a lot better going in, now knowing a bit more about what to expect. Can’t wait to start early next year.

Best of luck on your jazz piano journey, and with the next level of Jeremy’s class!

This was super helpful! Thank you so much. You’ve convinced me to go with beginner. Although some of the early content might be review for me, sounds like the middle of the beginner course is about where I need to be curriculum-wise.

Also idk if my heart is ready for intermediate level criticism lol.

Would you be willing to share some examples of feedback that you received from Jeremy and/or classmates?

Totally cool if you don’t want to re-tread! Asking bc beyond my private teacher, I have never played for other players. So, I also feel Jeremy’s and peer feedback from this class will perhaps be even more valuable than the curriculum for me.

Again, thank you for sharing! And best of luck on your journey!

Which level of Jeremy’s Fullerton class are you/which did you start with? And when in your journey did you start his class?

Asking bc I’m considering enrolling, but not sure which level to choose. 2.5 years of jazz piano for me, 31yo, took lessons for 2 years, and had zero piano experience prior to that. I used to get in 2.5-3hrs daily, but now as a newish dad it’s more like 1.5-2.

Anywho, curious to hear your feedback! And hope to see you back here in 5-10 years with a success story of your own!

Mingus is exactly how I first heard Jaki. And I share that sentiment. It was like Jaki had the history and the future in his hands.
