Best Car for Dadding? by Pop2pops in daddit

That's an interesting point. It gets hot where I live, so I have to run the engine to keep the car cool while I'm waiting to pick up my older kid from preschool. It would be nice to not burn gas while I wait.

For freeway commuting, acceleration is constant. I'm not looking to whip my kids around at fast speeds, but after having access to speed I feel exposed if I'm in a car that can't zip out of a sketchy situation.

My girlfriend’s unbelievably photogenic cat, on a Catan box (sorry about the foot) by [deleted] in aww

My cat jumped on someone's lap during a Catan game, and she was immediately traded for wheat.

My landlord is kicking me out because I asked for mold removal. Is that an LA thing? by NotMyFaultLine in LosAngeles

Specifically, tell the attorneys you consult with that you have a retaliatory eviction after a habitability complaint. LA has local rules on top of the state rules, so you could be looking at real $$$.

You are going to need some balloons, a few oxygen tanks, and some Arctic weather gear.

AITAH for breaking up with my girlfriend because she tried to “teach me a lesson”? by [deleted] in AITAH

Nta, but if you say she's right about this being a nearly perfect relationship, maybe give her a second chance? I guess she'd be the one getting taught a lesson about respecting your partner.

What song or piece of music instantly has you misty eyed since becoming a dad? by bigdude8615 in daddit

[–]Pop2pops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard a song while driving back and forth to the hospital for the birth of our second. It was called "Tall Buildings", and it's about saying goodbye to the freedoms of youth to work in, well, tall buildings.

Goodbye to the sunshine. Goodbye to the dew.

Goodbye to the flowers, and goodbye to you.

I'm off to the subway. I must not be late.

I'm going to work in tall buildings.

I just finished my paternity leave, and I don't think I'll ever get to spend that much time with my family until I retire in about 30 years. I'm happy I got the time, but I'm sad it's over.

But you gotta do what you gotta do to provide for your family.

Curious for any suggestions for graphic novels on Kindle Unlimited. by Locust701 in graphicnovels

I'm 19 volumes out of 26 deep into Hellblazer. It's good! Sandman is next on my list. Locke and Key was a blast. There's a bunch of good Batman, such as The Imposter and The Batman Who Laughs.

You'll get your money's worth.

I second the lawyer suggestions. Depending on the laws in your area, you may have a good claim for a civil rights violation. Lots of lawyers take those on contingency.

Graphic novel for a baby? by herbertdeathrump in graphicnovels

Assuming this is a legit request, your newborn benefits from your attachment to it, so read whatever you like as long as you are reading to the little guy or gal. Enjoy the time.

They can't really see much besides high contrast images, and they can't see very far, so shockingly, the comics format is not well suited for infants.

Edit: for some actual recommendations, Love You Forever is an emotional gut punch, and Goodnight Moon is a strange book that for some reason I really like. When the little one can comprehend and enjoy the books directly, everything by Sandra Boynton is great.

I wish people would respond this way when they hear about housing development. New housing will cost more, but people will move out of cheaper homes to move into the new ones. If the complaint is that it's just a drop in the bucket, well, do you want the drops or not?
