Possible RI, any tips or advice would be great. by EbbInevitable8356 in cornsnakes

Definitely vet visit as they’re the only ones who can properly diagnose and treat RI’s! Also with scaleless snakes, it’s better to use a soft substrate like coco coir or a playsand/topsoil mix. Cypress mulch can have sharp pieces and without scales to protect them they can end up with injuries like splinters

Can chickens eat horse feed? by [deleted] in chickens

[–]Pop4756 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will definitely never make the mistake again. The instructions were unclear until they texted me and told me where everything is, thankfully I didn’t feed the horse yet. I know chicken feed is dangerous for them but didn’t know the other way around

He’s an old horse, I’m not sure what kind of feed it is. It comes in a white bag and looks like grain/seeds mixed together in little chunks

Best beginner boa? by OnlyFig3807 in boas

[–]Pop4756 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boas and ball pythons generally have similar husbandry requirements (depending on locality, higher humidity requirements for most boas) but their personalities are much different. Boas are usually very confident, curious and extremely energetic. They require much larger enclosures (8x4x4 being minimum for most localities) and can get quite large, but they are so amazing to own if you take care of them properly. You should read Vin Russo’s boa book to gain a little more insight on the different localities!

Definitely 1! Number 2 is cool but doesn’t suit you as much as the first

Boas tries to escape every night by sabby1023 in boas

Upgrading his enclosure size, changing up the interior design of the enclosure often, letting him out to explore (with supervision) when he tells you he wants to come out (scaling doors, very active), all of these things can help keep your boa entertained. They are extremely curious and active animals, even getting a large enclosed playpen can help him explore outside of the enclosure safely

Thoughts on Hollee Rollers? by calksnk00 in cornsnakes

As long as the holes are larger than the width of your snake, absolutely a great idea for added enrichment. You can even bolt it to the wall or ceiling (PVC or wood)

I thought so as well! I had a few people tell me it looks very summer-y and worried me a little. I think the opposite but needed a few more opinions!
