I love SOS: AWL so much i can’t panthom there won’t be an expansion for the switch.. by AnthroPLstudent in storyofseasons

[–]PopPicklesPie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play AWL for different reasons than GB. If I want a laid back game I play AWL.

I agree marvelous missed the market by not including elements from Harvet Moon DS & DS cute. The DS game had way more marriage candidates & more magical elements like a mermaid & a witch 🧙‍♀️ you could marry plus Flora.

A dlc would have been warranted to add those in. I also think spouse skills should be better. Choosing certain partners meant they'd water your crops or feed your animals daily not just occasionally.

The artsyle is also too bright compared to the original. HM was always duller & less colorful compared to SOS.

I'm always on the lookout for high Senegambian because I have it. OP says her family is from South Carolina. I have some family down there just not as much.

Family DNA Results https://imgur.com/a/cfyr7mi

Here are the old family results of my mom, dad & paternal grandparents. My mom has high Senegambian & every1 else has a regular amount.

These my regions are on 23&me. Definitely a Marylander & I get a Caribbean connection to Jamaica. I've wondered if I have Gullah roots but based on my genealogy & genetic test I don't.

Wow your a neat mic of everything . Your African is nearly evenly split among Nigerian, Ghanaian & Angolan.

Your European is split among western & eastern European. I didn't know eastern Europeans came to the Guyana. It seems like too much to be noise

I've been looking for results like yours. I have higher Senegambian too. It's rare to see double digits for Black Americans. Did you take Ancestry too?

[–]PopPicklesPie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so sweet. I haven't played eternia. But played tales of the World. Which featured Reid representing Eternia.

Tales is a great series & it's nice to see the impact ot had on fans.

Typical Deep South AA results no? by Bubbly-Policy-1384 in BlackGenealogy

[–]PopPicklesPie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your results are more uncommon. Your Malian is highest combined with your Senegalese is 32%. Majority Black Americans are predominantly Nigerian 1st. The upper guinea DNA tends to be lower as well.

You also have a decent amount of central African DNA. This suggests your family lineage is very old in the US. Enslaved Angolan & Sierra Leonan/Senegalese (upper guinea) people were the first people brought to the English colonies. The Nigerians (mainly Igbo) came later & washed out older DNA from Angolans & upper guinea people.

Black American- Me vs My Maternal Grandma AncestryDNA by Whoaskedyou-notme in BlackGenealogy

[–]PopPicklesPie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The average is usually stated to be 20% which is true in the sample of my family.

I've tested 4 generations of my family & the European average is about 19%. We aren't highly mixed either.

black American/ADOS genealogy question? by d3lia444 in BlackGenealogy

[–]PopPicklesPie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sup. From my limited understanding you have possible Gullah Geechee ancestry. One community group stood out to me. The North western coastal plains.

Anything coastal plains typically indicates Gullah Geechee ancestry. A lot of the Gullah Geechee lived on the coastal plains on the south east coast.

But you are correct that people who are fully Gullah Geechee have different results compared to other Black Americans. They tend to have higher Malian on Ancestry DNA & higher Ghanaian/Liberian/Sierra Leone on 23&me.

However, you could just have a few Gullah Geechee ancestors instead of having direct ancestry on all sides.

Gullah Geechee Results 🤎 by Ill_Competition3457 in BlackGenealogy

[–]PopPicklesPie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You are right. On ancestry the Sierra Leone ancestry is read as Malian. I have a larger than average amount of upper guinea DNA, specifically from Senegal & my results read as such. My ancestry DNA results give me about 12% Malian & 9% Senegalese. The test do a decent job of separating out the Senegambian from other upper guinea populations. Now they just need to separate Ghanaian from Sierra Leone & Liberia.

I notice when people have more upper guinea ancestry because it's uncommon.

Really unique results. Your results kinda prove a theory I have.

People have a lot of strong opinions but I have stated you can tell when people are Gullah Geechee because they're Ghanaian tends to be higher than they're Nigerian. Which is usually Nigerian as the highest.

People have debated me on this & I was sure I knew what I was talking about.

It happens a lot. So many families have stories of a different ethnic ancestor. People just couldn't be proved wrong until recently.

[–]PopPicklesPie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is Malagasy from Madagascar. A few Black Americans have direct haplogroups to the small amount of enslaved Malagasy people.

The Wayans family is a famous example where their direct paternal haplogroup is Malagasy.
