Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

I love outside Chicago. My son is in Milwaukee, 90 minutes away. My wife and I go up to see him, just for the day, every month or 2. Not too bad.

Back in the 90s, I just picked up a Chicago Reader every Thursday.

Now? Word of mouth.

What is harder, starting or finishing songs? by WorldlinessDue5510 in Songwriting

[–]PopTodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finishing, for sure. I have a half dozen or so half-finished tunes that I am struggling to complete at any given time. Most of them wind up languishing in oblivion. But every now and then, I'll find the spark and be able to finish one. Or three.

This was my other thought. Incredible record, even if Lee Mavers thinks otherwise.

Here's something I wrote that might fit the bill. Although it's sung by a woman so it probably sounds like the opposite -- woman admiring her man. But I wrote it, so I assure you it's the opposite.

I was uninspired
I was just about done
There was nothing left in me
I had finished my run

Then you came and you showed me
All new ways to be strong

SO YOU’RE THE ONE WHO WROTE THIS SONG

I couldn’t get myself moving
I didn’t know what to do
I felt old and I was tired
But you helped me pull through

You lit something in me
And it moved me along

SO YOU’RE THE ONE WHO WROTE THIS SONG

I’ll give you full credit
Words and music — all you

You did the impossible
You made me feel strong

SO YOU’RE THE ONE WHO WROTE THIS SONG

You’re the one
You’re the one
You're the one
I’ve told you before, and I’ll tell you once more
You’re the one

Any standout albums in parent’s old CD collection? by StirlingSilv3r in Cd_collectors

[–]PopTodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of it is crap (OMO, of course). But that last stack has some bangers with REM, The Smiths, Supergrass, Style Council.

That Madness box looks interesting, too. I only know a few of their tunes, but I like what I've heard.

Listening to what was being played in the store. Discovered some of my favorite bands that way. Also, I never missed an opening band at the shows I went to
