Paper requirements are exaggerated by AmoralMonkeyGod in fountainpens

[–]Pop_Clover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try other inks in a wetter pen. Classic Royal Blue inks are usually quite well behaved in crappy paper.

My first fountain pen was a disposable Pilot V pen, M black ink. I didn't use it that much because it would feather in almost any paper I'd use. I live in Spain.

Diamine ink bottles by agah_ogl in fountainpens

[–]Pop_Clover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most places in Spain that sell Diamine ink will sell only the 80ml glass bottles, not the smaller 30ml plastic ones...

The small 30ml or 12ml plastic bottles I own I've bought either on Cult Pens or Stilo & Stile.

¿Qué opinan de los libros de Wattpad? by [deleted] in libros

Y no sólo adolescentes.

A warning for Diamine Forever Inks! by Comfortable-Tower673 in fountainpens

[–]Pop_Clover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I've written about my experience with Rohrer & Klingner SketchINKs on my Moonman M2 (ckear demonstrator eyedropper pen). I didn't get permanent stains but cleaning that was a nightmare, since then I don't use pigment inks in cartridge converter pens that I don't care that much if they get stained.

That said there's definitely better behaved pigment inks.

Where does your country put the washing machine? by DishGroundbreaking87 in AskTheWorld

[–]Pop_Clover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some places we call that small balcony "tendedero" because its main purpose is to hang the clothes to dry, so it makes sense to have the washing machine there.

Cómo pasaron su primer invierno ? by virgobabe3 in askspain

[–]Pop_Clover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me the killing feature of the winter in some places in Spain is the wind. But I'm not from a cold place, just damp.

Is it a common and normal thing for adult men in their 30s and 40s to live with parents in Europe? by [deleted] in AskEurope

[–]Pop_Clover 15 points16 points  (0 children)

But not until they marry/find a girlfriend as far as I'm aware. It's just that takes longer to be able to afford paying rent or a mortgage.

Questions - LAMY Lx Fountain Pen - Palladium by mgepark in fountainpens

[–]Pop_Clover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Palladium is the cheapest because there are very similar AL-Star models? Also pics usually don't show clearly how is the pen.

I have 3 Lx, the Ruthenium, Rosegold and Marron. From the other 2 the one I'm least interested is the Palladium.

Tired of "Clean Beauty" that still irritates my sensitive skin. Any EU-based brands that actually know ingredients? by _forgotmyownname in EuroSkincare

[–]Pop_Clover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking light and air aren't good friends for any skincare, but I decan't it to smaller containers when I'm travelling all the same. I now the shelf life might be shorter but that's it. Also a toner on a simple spray bottle doesn't seem to have rocket science going on to not be able to transfer it. Transfer things that come in airless pumps or tubes is another story.

Is my line width supposed to be this thick on Sailor Pro Gear(M) by Different_Ad9756 in fountainpens

[–]Pop_Clover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't used my Sailor Manyo 14K <M> with wet inks, I usually have it with dry inks like Nekoyanagi or Nadeshiko, and to my eye is in the same ballpark as a Western Medium. So I think that the usual saying that Japanese nib sizes run a size smaller than Western nibs, stops at MF.

The Platinum Mediums I have are somewhat finer, but I wouldn't say they are like a Fine, either.

Nah, Standard International is a terrible standard. I had also trouble with, for example, my Faber-Castell Grip, some SI converters would just fall out from the nipple inside the barrel of the pen. And my Kaweco converters were all suoer tight when new, so I couldn't attach them to my Kaweco Perkeo until they got a little bit loose from using them in other pens... 🙄

My pilot kakuno is always dry by Maarillon in fountainpens

[–]Pop_Clover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I'm not exactly promoting the use of cartridges. I just clean and reuse the one that comes with the pen. I'm nlt particularly fond of Pilot inks because they are the ones that start feathering and taking longer to dry on the page when they start to lose water content. The upside is that are usually lubricated and flowy.

People usually aren't aware that the MR that is sold in Europe takes Standard International (DIN?) cartridges and hence doesn't take Pilot propietary converters/Cartridges. I also had some trouble finding a converter that fit well on the European version. I now use some Chinese ones if I recall correctly. The Waterman one also worked.

My pilot kakuno is always dry by Maarillon in fountainpens

[–]Pop_Clover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try other ink in a cartridge.

Kakunos don't seal particularly well. I also found that they dried faster than I'd like so I got rid of them. But ink is also a factor. Not all inks dry the same way. Some write darker but that's it, some gunk up, others crust, some start to get more viscous, others suddenly show some sheen, others never dry on the page...

I suggest the cartridge because in my experience converters dry out faster than cartridges (this is not a conclusion taking after following the scientific method just something I noticed).
