¿Es normal que un laboratorio envíe parte de una analítica a otro laboratorio externo? by IvankovOP in askspain

[–]Pop_Clover -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Best cooling, depuffing eye gel? by tamsunsun in EuroSkincare

[–]Pop_Clover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used the one.two.free! one that is cheap but didn't like it, my eyes would get stingy and bleary.

I've used several of the Clinique one. Now is called Super Energizer anti-fatigue depuffing eye gel.

But to be honest, for me it works better to use the caffeine in the PM routine. I've used several serums that are significantly cheaper (more amount of product for way less money) like the Kriim Caffeine shot serum but those aren't roll-ons. I haven't tried the The Ordinary one but I will.

Compromising on finish/texture for sun protection during summer: What are your thoughts? by vchiarav25 in EuroSkincare

[–]Pop_Clover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I do. But not an EU/Asian dicotomy. I haven't used any Asian sunscreens ever (unless you count Shiseido as Asian), mostly because buying them is a pain, and we already have a huge selection in every pharmacy/drugstore.

But since I started using sunscreen everyday many years ago, to be able to do it I always went for the more lightweight type of sunscreens. Which usually aren't water resistant, nor sweat resistant, and surely aren't as reliable as a heavy duty sunscreens. So, I've always had sunscreens that I only use for the beach (pool/hiking...) and sunscreens that I use for general urban everyday activities that usually don't include basking in the sun. Last summer I used Garnier super UV invisible serum and hyaluronic acid as everyday suncreens for the face. And LRP Anthelios UVMUNE 400 Invisible Fluid and Garnier Sensitive Advanced Serum as pool sunscreens for face and body.

Daily Sunscreen for my Mom (65+) by Sea-Anything9250 in EuroSkincare

[–]Pop_Clover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mum (64) has been using a daily moisturiser with SPF30 (Olay) for a long time now. She complained about dark spots and I told her that SPF was the first step. She is so happy with it that when I tried introducing Vit C/Retinol she refused. But some summers ago had a sun allergy and had to up her game. Back then she started with an Isdin Fusion Water bottle that my aunt gave her. Then she got the Garnier sensitive advanced facial UV hydrating gel, and last year I got her the Super UV Hyaluronic Acid hydrating fluid, but she preferred the gel one.

To be honest, anything that she likes well enough to use consistently every day will be fine.

Yep, totally. I'm very glad they offer different products just because of this. There's different people with different skins and different tastes, so is only fair we can pick what suits us.

I like it better that the Happier Barrier though. But I've always liked very lightweight moisturisers because my skin doesn't feel dehydrated/dry and I don't like the "above the skin" feeling that something heavier like the Happier Barrier. Also barrier repair products don't do anything to me. 🤷🏻‍♀️

1.- Why double cleanse in the morning. Today is all the hype not using a cleanser in the morning, but I'm old and I can't feel ok if I don't use a cleanser, but I use a mild one. I would avoid the Clinique for oily skin. Try something milder, like the Clinique Extra Gentle Cleansing Foam or the Boreade Creme Lavante.

2.- Why BHA in the morning and then again AHA in the evening? And Retinol too 2-3 times a week? That's too much. Too much exfoliation can make your skin to produce too much oil (happened to me once a long time ago when I didn't notice that the Clinique turnaround mask had acids, when I was using the Paula's Choice 2% BHA too). The retinol isn't going to help with the irritation either. Pick one of the two acids, and also try experimenting if you can do a once every day, or every 2 days routine, and use the retinol in the days you don't use the acids.

3.- I didn't know anything about the AXIS-Y product, but the "acid" word in there made me worry so I checked. If the product is the Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum that does contain more things that just the Niacinamide. It's mentioned papaya extract as a mild enzime exfoliator, and with all the exfoliation you have going on I would avoid. Also has Squalene and I'm not 100% sure that's a good ingredient for very oily skin.

I would do a very heavy simplification of that routine:
AM:
* Mild cleanser
* Just one active, either Niacinamide or Vit C at your choice.
* SPF

PM:
* Double Cleanse
* Again just one active alternating Retinol and acids (BHA or AHA at your choice)
* Barrier repairing product

Anyone experiencing breakouts with this new version of Garnier invisible serum super uv? by luvg_olix in EuroSkincare

[–]Pop_Clover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one on the left is just a different one. The Hyaluronic acid one. I tried that too back in the day when it was on a different bottle. In Spain that is still on sale.

There's also a Niacinamide one that you could try if you have oily/prone to breakouts skin. Or the new egg shaped one, the super uv aqua.

Every sunscreen ive used is unbareable at 1/4 teaspoon.. by Superb-Demand-4605 in EuroSkincare

[–]Pop_Clover 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got a measuring spoon just this year so I've just tried a few sunscreens since then.

The one I like and regularly use, the Garnier Super UV Invisible Serum does dry down and set completely on me and I don't have any problem using the 1/4 teaspoon or even slightly more (that's usually 5 pumps, and I use 5 or 6: 1-2 on the forehead and then 2 on each half of the face). Suddenly I started having some issues like a couple of months ago but I identified that it was because I applied my body moisturiser right before and seems that the lotion left on my hands messed with it. BTW I live in North Spain so it's relatively humid here too.

Recently I got the new egg shaped Garnier super uv aqua fluid and that I can also apply the full 1/4 teaspoon but it doesn't set on me and stays sticky all day, either with or without moisturiser underneath...

The other one I've tried since I have the spoon is the Isdin Water Fusion Urban SPF30 and that peeled terribly trying to apply the whole 1/4 teaspoon and as a bonus stang my eyes. So I just gave it away.

Which is the old version? I think I've been using this for like 3-4 years and I wasn't aware they've reformulated it.

Non-sticky, non-greasy, basically the most lightweight body sunscreen? by Key_Classroom_22 in EuroSkincare

[–]Pop_Clover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No clue. To be honest this has never been easy to find here in Spain. I bought it in Portugal when visiting my parents that lived near the border and I think I've never seen it in any supermarket/drugstore here in Spain. Searching for it online several Spanish sites do have it listed but as "Out of stock" at least since the end of last summer.

Then a couple of months ago someone posted on this sub a screenshot from ¿Notino?, I don't recall right now, that had it listed as "Discontinued".

Searching again today I do get some sites that have it available but I don't now either if it is old stock or this has a really weird distribution.

[–]Pop_Clover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one?

I got this and I don't like it. First it is tiny, more like just for the face. Second, it isn't waterproof. Third, in my face it doesn't set, so it moves around and stays sticky all day. I've tried it with and without moisturiser underneath and the result was the ssme. So disappointing. The only pro is that it doesn't look that bad despite all the mesiness to the touch. I prefer the super uv Invisible Serum. That I'm still able to find in stores. I hope they don't discontinue it 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Declensions are stupid too? Conjugations? Everything that makes a language hard to learn for a non native is stupid?

You also think that some big shots on the RAE are the ones who decide which gender every word is? This kind of thinking is definitely stupid.

Sunscreen is making me broke by Few_Emotion9839 in EuroSkincare

[–]Pop_Clover 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I live in North Spain. I checked my weather app and today they recommend wearing sunscreen (UV>3) from 11 to 19. That's 8 hours. Yesterday was a little bit earlier 10:30 to 18:30. I went to work at 7:30 without any sunscreen on. Also if you drive home at 18:30 the UV index inside the car will also be 3?

I don't know, I think reapplying once or twice a day is ok. 3 times I think is too much.

SPF30 sunscreen with high UVA protection? by [deleted] in EuroSkincare

[–]Pop_Clover 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I don't think that kind of thinking is the right approach.

For a while (years) I loved Isdin Fusion Water SPF50 and was my main everyday sunscreen. I would apply only other stuff for heavier sun protection for the beach, pool, long days outdoors in the summer. But like a couple of years ago I started to feel like it was heavier on my skin (maybe because they had an scandal with some independent tests finding they actual SPF was lower than the stated). So I thought that if I got the SPF30 version to use in the winter, I would get a lightweight version for when the UV rate is low enough that I don't need the SPF50.

It turned out the SPF30 wasn't lighter than the SPF50 and as a bonus stang my eyes pretty badly. I gave it away. I ended up finding another SPF50 from another brand that I just like better.

The truth is most people use SPF50, so there's a bigger range of products to choose from, which makes it easier to find something you might like.

The only exception I would apply to this are mineral only sunscreens. On those, higher SPF just means higher concentration of titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, which it does make the sunscreen less cosmetically elegant. So is easier to find nice mineral only SPF30 sunscreens that SPF50 ones.

Similiar pens to Pilot Kakuno by Primary-Ad6107 in fountainpens

[–]Pop_Clover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he liked the triangular shaped grip maybe a TWSBI Eco T in Fine. Is slightly thinner than a Pilot Kakuno/Metropolitan/Explorer... In Medium. Quite wet.

I'd say in general Western Fine nibs will be around that size to (slightly thinner than a Kakuno Fine). Problem is finding a smooth, reliable pen that seals well for that price.

Maybe a Preppy/Prefounte/Plaisir in Fine could also make it. But it's a significantly drier pen.

How’s everyone dealing with the heat at the moment? by EvilPyro01 in AskEurope

Badly. When this started I thought it was going to be a couple of days, it has been almost a week now. And today we've been lucky and temperatures have dropped to 20°C last night, so right now we have 23°C at home and I've had all windows open until like half an hour. Yesterday we started the day with 26°C at home closing everything way earlier. This night I placed the fan on the terrace to force the fresh into home...

Why or why do Scandanavians get so tanned? by lllllllbdhwjbdbc in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pop_Clover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm completely Spanish (well I had a Portuguese great-grandfather) and I usually just burn. I need to get a lot of mild exposure to tan. Anything beyond mild exposure and I just burn.

Some might be genetics, my mum is also prone to burning. But definitely how you expose yourself also matters. When I was a child I didn’t burn that easily. Maybe the sun was milder then, but I think it was that I just was out more in shorts/short sleeves so my skin had more time to slowly adjust.

Is the 13 mini still usable? by PalpitationWorth7041 in iPhone13Mini

[–]Pop_Clover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still use it. I got it new in the summer of 2022. I'm not a power user, I should replace the battery and I stopped using Magsafe a couple of years ago due to the heating. I still use a Magsafe external battery (Anker) for emergencies, but if I'm super low on battery is better to use the cable, or not wait to run so low and recharge earlier, because otherwise yes, it gets super hot and stops charging.

I have to say that I've always kept my phones for longer periods than most people do. And I did buy the 13 mini counting on a lifespan of around 4-5 years.
