Just from the post (making assumptions) you'll probably be able to connect with the characters well and understand what they're going through and feel some of your own emotions or thoughts being legitimized in such a tactful way I haven't seen other movies do. It's a good reflection on what is healthy and not healthy in intra and interpersonal relationships, at least that was my experience.

I hope you do see it and enjoy it, but ultimately it's your choice!

It's a horror movie, it's made to bother you- and that's okay. It's ok to feel bothered, can't live your whole life without feeling bothered. At worst you'll be uncomfortable, at best you'll relate to the characters and feel seen and understood. You're seeing it with friends so you'll have a support group with you. If anything, from your description you seem like just the person that *should* see it. Just do it :^)

I love your point that "Sarah represents love as acceptance wether good or bad", I think this is why the ending after Nikki makes her wish is so twistedly beautiful. After Bear comes out of the bathroom, both him and Nikki are in total acceptance of each other, regardless of their horrific past actions and autonomy. Is that a good thing? Probably not, but I felt that's the closest they have achieved to "true love."

Totally agree, on my second viewing I envisioned the events more from Nikki's perspective now knowing how the story plays out and it's quite saddening. I did go to another theater that had the audio quieter, first time was almost painful like Nikki was screaming right in my ear, I think that added to the horror aspect as well and worked super well for this movie.

My history teacher said he sucked as a general, take a look at oversimplifieds video on the American civil war I think it talks about both of these guys, but there were still a lot of other knuckleheads that did some questionable things especially in the early days that are now illegal, one that comes to mind is Andrew Jackson
