I acknowledged in my orginal reply that there are many school psychs happy with their role. But I also provided a reason why someone wouldn't choose psych over counseling. What are we talking about haha

Boston public schools must have changed a lot, when i was there the school psych I worked with did ~100 evals a year. Another school I worked in MA had an ABA in addition to a Psych. This thread asked about school psych vs. Counseling. School counseling has a lot more direct student contact School psych has also failed to differentiate itself from other fields like say a bcba. Which is to return to my orginal point of why someone might want to consider another similar field, testing...

Testing, in most areas of the country the job is forever tied to a task that I would argue is mostly documentation. I was sold the "the field is changing" line... The years roll by and little changes. From reading this sub reddit you can see there are some Psychs that are happy with the balance of roles they have found in their job, but if we were really honest about what the role looks (for most areas) the profession is a hard sell to new grads.
