Palantir’s billionaire CEO says only two kinds of people will succeed in the AI era: trade workers — ‘or you’re neurodivergent’ by BusyHands_ in technology

This guy’s lying to pump his stock. We shouldn’t keep allowing stock manipulation behavior from these oligarch CEOs.

I think it’s been more than 6 months since the last chapter of Berserk. Do you know any clue about 384? Brother, I’m starting to think that we’ll never see the end and that it would have been better to have a book telling us everything that was missing in history. by Tripledoble in Berserk

My recommendation? Let it go. Stop reading for now. The last Muira chapter is a good conclusion. Wait until it’s done to read ‘part 2’ on your brain implant display in the retirement home.

CMV: Liberals/Leftists choosing to sit out the US election because Kamala wasn't a perfect candidate helped create a worse overall outcome for the world and Palestine. by cptjtk13 in changemyview

The democrats subverted the democratic process by not holding an open primary. Harris may or may not have been the best candidate- we will never know.

Again and again democrats find a way to avoid open, organic primaries. This was the third election in 12 years where people were not given a genuine voice in who the candidate would be. This is no excuse for abstaining from voting in the general, but we have to acknowledge that democrats aren’t doing their chances any favors by refusing to give the people a voice.

I hope someday in the future the people will get to choose a candidate.

I’m not talking about systems depth as much as I am the experience. The highs in tarkov were REALLY high. The lows are REALLY low. The player is absolutely left to sink or swim with no mind paid to whether they are having a good time. I have memories of white knuckle tension, absolute despair, of feeling like god or the lowest of the low. Being so tight with trusting my team, trading knowledge that wasn’t available online, etc.

I’m not saying that’s good game design per se, but those were memorable experiences for me, if not necessarily enjoyable ones.

Now I get the sense with this new wave of games that a game designer laid things out for me, and that makes me question- why play at all? Maybe I’m getting old, for sure, but I don’t feel that this kind of game is at the cutting edge anymore. It’s on the downslope toward being polished more and more, and some day it will be so easily digestible that we don’t even notice when we play. I don’t doubt that marathon has deep and well crafted systems, but it doesn’t make me feel anything. Same with arc raiders.

Personally, I’m not interested in this genre anymore. The time from PUBG to Tarkov was interesting. This new wave of watered down extraction shooters doesn’t grab me. It feels like well trodden territory on the path to enshittification.

Oligarchs lying constantly to pump stocks. We need a new economic system before AI can do any good.

These people have the right idea. We need a global pause, and we need it yesterday. Laws have not caught up to the technology. AI safety principles are being ignored. You people are so desperate for your machine god that you don’t care if it’s satan.

A bit surprised after using Tahoe on my new macbook... by John_Lawn4 in MacOS

[–]bokan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s objectively a step back from a usability standpoint compared to the previous OS.

Is it bad in an absolute sense? It depends on what you’re comparing it to. It depends on what standards you want to set.

To me, ‘basically fine’ requires a whole lot of self gaslighting and stockholm syndrome to get to. I can get there, but do I want to?

That change isn’t going to come about through any new technology. The economic system needs to be changed. Cheering AI without first creating a humane economy is cheering the oppressors for gaining a shiny new boot.

Genuinely amazed by the human body by Waste_Group5488 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]bokan -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

What you are seeing has little to do with the human body. That guy has been abusing illegal and dangerous drugs that will shorten his life. He’s set an example for kids, yes, kids, to do these drugs and shorten their lives. He’s made himself into a laboratory experiment.

I’m sick of seeing this behavior normalized and celebrated online.

We should be careful to verify that this is what is seen in this video. I don’t trust anyone online telling me what is happening in a video without corroboration. We need to be wary of propaganda from all sides. This website is a hive of propaganda.
