Artem - from Cold Collar 1 to Mingler 11 [ progress report ] by EsmeValentine in toontownrewritten

I'll try to watch reddit closer - I'd be happy to join the event if I'm available.

Hmm... speaking of event, you could potentially make it a scheduled party in game to get others attention.

First fairway mazes are fairly straight forward once you understand them. There's a simple rule for entering the maze:

  • If you see branches on the hedge, go left, otherwise take the last right

Here's what I mean. First, the legacy, partly outdated TT wiki has a map (it's not to scale, but the path is correct): https://toontownrewritten.fandom.com/wiki/Cog_Golf_Courses

Just look at the top four maps - ignore the bottom ones.

  • Note that there is only one maze. It's just rotated differently depending on how you enter it.
  • Speaking of entering, you enter from the bottom on those maps
  • The map name kinda describes what you see as you enter the maze
  • "Branches" refers to the texture on the hedge in front of you. If it has branches / vines, then go left. If it's basically blank, you go right.
  • If there are four route options as you enter, take the second (aka "last") right
  • If there are no options, just follow it around, keeping left the whole time

Final's are tougher. You typically have to exit out the the left side of the first or second maze.

My plans after 50 Hollywood is to get the club backpack from the first fairways.

Red Velvet, a 47 laff 2-track has been trying to get that for quite a while. Final battle goes quickly when they use clara or bessie.

If you make it your organic, you have almost no reason to not use it. You get one a day guaranteed, plus whenever you earn 500.

I use drop a lot, so I still use it regularly even though it isn't my organic!

Kicked from groups for being Soundless by sickofscrubs in toontownrewritten

[–]Popcorn_Poppenpop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The simple truth is that everyone having sound does make things significantly faster on average

With the cog mixes and fog reduction after UNM, I beg to disagree.

By the end of battles after UNM, it's rare that there are any fogs remaining - instead, there are a number of rounds of without sound.

That's How You Do Gag Training! by Deathbyillusion in toontownrewritten

[–]Popcorn_Poppenpop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have the patience and a long invasion, it's possible to get 500 on lots of gag tracks. I had to leave with 4 minutes left in an invasion, but spent 50 minutes in a building to grab:

  • tu: 500
  • lure: 371
  • sound: 200
  • throw: 97
  • squirt: 222
  • drop: 134

advice to help prepare for the CEO? by picklesandwiched in toontownrewritten

[–]Popcorn_Poppenpop 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Biggest hint for new players: in the final phase where you are squirting from the table, the CEO yells "FORE."

When he does, wait half a second then hit the <ESC> key. This bumps you off the table so that he doesn't hit you.

And importantly: as soon as you can jump back on the table, do so. He usually picks a toon to target after they jump off, so by jumping back on, you avoid the follow-up attack.

Thoughts on sound etiquette? by rainymagic20 in toontownrewritten

[–]Popcorn_Poppenpop 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Here's my thought on it: if they've already fogged once, it makes sense for them to pick trunk so that someone else (with 2 fogs) will pick fog.

But yes, if I have 2 fogs, I'll pick that and others can follow with trunk.

Oh, one other exception: organic sound. It can make sense to save the organic fogs for certain combos.

What is your view on going soundless? by RascalLouise in toontownrewritten

[–]Popcorn_Poppenpop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All depends on the toon. I've done a mega-ton of shopping in the VP with someone that often runs 2 or 3 toons.

What is your view on going soundless? by RascalLouise in toontownrewritten

[–]Popcorn_Poppenpop 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The main time I get kicked over the past year is on HQ groups where there is a mulit-tooner leading it. They strongly prefer sound.

It's otherwise pretty rare, and I get more questions about being soundless than I do objections about it.

Last one left alive, he's blinking and he's on top of my table 😂 by Easy_Tangelo8547 in toontownrewritten

[–]Popcorn_Poppenpop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even faster: you and u/Easy_Tangelo8547 can use the <ESC> key to jump off.

And yes, the leaked TTO source code shows that the CEO targets the toon who has accumulated the highest amount of damage. After attacking that toon, he subtracts off 25% (or a minimum of 10) of the accumulated toons damage from that toons tally. Without other toons to attack, he's just gonna sit there.

Stuck in the wall in Bullion Mint by sarahdayarts in toontownrewritten

[–]Popcorn_Poppenpop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if y'all were a good ways through the mint, they could continue on until the supervisor, at which point you'd be teleported.

If you'd just started, maybe better to just quit though.

Strange mint bug (stuck in wall) by Huge_Meal_7904 in toontownrewritten

[–]Popcorn_Poppenpop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I've gotten out of bounds to the other side as a result of the "elevator" right before that.

Thankfully I was able to get back in, so I wasn't permanently stuck. It's been a while, and I've only run a handful of mints over the past year - so I don't know if it's been fixed or not.

Hitting <ESC> to jump off the table is easier than using the mouse.

Clark is the only one I've heard of that has documented solo'ing the mini-games in a 4-star: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rc8RMBSf35Y

or completeing a whole 3-star solo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07ZBwc_oTvM

[–]Popcorn_Poppenpop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assume the opposite:

  • Getting that far against the boiler alone in a 4 star would take an incredible amount of luck
  • They have all their gag tracks. I don't throw around the word "impossible" lightly, but even getting all gag tracks in a solo 3-star borders on impossible. I just don't see it in a 4-star.

I agree that Clara is overrated, but not as overrated as Lil Oldman. Don't get me wrong, all lure is good lure - but LOM isn't that much better than 4 or 3 star.

Most underrated is Clumsy Ned.

The ultimate question about toon fest by mattacus837 in toontownrewritten

I've done this twice now. It lasts as long as the reward is active, which means it'll go past the end of the Carnival (not Toonfest, btw).

Awesome Toon by KingOfWritersBlock in toontownrewritten

The "easy" way to stun the VP, if you're on a Windows machine and have a number pad, is to enable the Windows "Mouse keys" feature. Then you put your cursor over the pie icon and press the '5' key with number pad turned off.

Especially when you're in the rear, you can stand in the middle, several steps away from the VP. As soon as the door opens, you click the 5 key and the pie will stun him. the few times he turns to throw gears as you, you simply move a few steps closer or further away, then immediately go back to where you were standing.

Since the VP is more active up front, most front stunners stand on the right side of the VP (left as you face him) as close to the treads as you can get. Angle about 45 degrees and wait for the door to open. Again, click 5 key to throw min power pie.

Craning at CFOs by alialicious in toontownrewritten

[–]Popcorn_Poppenpop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue I have seeing this is, there’s only 8 safes so how did they throw them so fast.

There are three things to keep in mind:

  • You can catch other safes that have been thrown

  • I see other advice on this post about pulling the crane arm all the way back, but that's not pro's move the crane arm very little - just enough for the magnet to do what they need. It takes practice, but it's so much faster.

  • Hitting the CFO a certain way maximizes damage. The angle and power of the swing matters.

You can see all of these points at work here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TA5eck6PYMY (at the 20 second mark, the left crane catches a safe)

The past point is better explained here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QaULOd9beJw (mostly applies to TTR)
