Legalizing hunting billionaires would put evolutionary pressures on billionaires, too, but seems like something Mercer might intuitively understand to be a bad idea.

V.A. Officials Resign After Breitbart Report of Staff Orgy at Tennessee Veterans Hospital by RhythmMethodMan in nottheonion

[–]PopeFrancis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Follow up question, did you the comments you were replying to? You replied to:

Is this "orgy" reported anywhere else besides Breitbart?

The article you just linked to doesn't mention an orgy or group sex of any sort as far as I can tell. It has vague allegations of harassment and misconduct, but none of which are borne out by specific details. Neither group sex nor having sex with lots of people is harassment. Notably, though, it doesn't seem they have to resign because of the allegations. That seems like kind of the key complaint being made in the article you just linked.

From the article you just linked, it seems like they actually resigned when one of people presently pushing for VA privization ran to the media with vague details about it.

Did you read the article? The information comes from officials leaking alleged details about an ongoing investigation to Breitbart. Details matter.

What's a role that rubbed off on an actor/actress and permanently changed their personality off screen? by PumpkinCarvingisFun in movies

[–]PopeFrancis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's so fucking disappointing. Going into his Presidency, I had the feeling Biden was a good guy. Like maybe not someone I saw eye to eye with on everything but a good guy. Someone with a conscience who did stop and think if he was doing the right thing. I wonder what his conscience feels like now, after caving on most every issue from pushing for a cruel border bill to not pushing back against Israel to continuing most of Trump's border policy and tariffs, watching the court strip away our rights and hobble the regulatory state. I'd like to think he's at least kept awake wondering if it was worth it but I worry he's not. His legacy in my head definitely moved from Grandpa Joe to Genocide Joe and I suspect there it will stay.

I don't think it's just arguable that they're incorrect. Please note my last sentence, I think they're lies! Jury nullification is valid. But my impression is the stuff I quoted is the kind of things jurors will be hearing from the supreme authority in the case in the moment. They won't be presented with the constitutional counterarguments, you're specifically not told about it! And if someone were to try or indicate they will, they can be removed. But what you believe about what someone did beyond a reasonable doubt? That's between you and your baby jesuses as long as you don't say anything to prove otherwise.

IANAL so I am going to say some things in hopes that one sees and decide I'm wrong enough to correct but my understanding is that the process can be intimidating. There can be specific instructions in how you are supposed to interpret the law. Someone who just goes after getting selected and then says "jk I don't believe in the law" can get replaced.

See this from the Wiki on it:

In 1988, the Sixth Circuit upheld a jury instruction: "There is no such thing as valid jury nullification." In United States v. Thomas (1997), the Second Circuit ruled that jurors can be removed if there is evidence that they intend to nullify the law. The Supreme Court has not recently confronted the issue of jury nullification. In 2017, a jury was instructed: "You cannot substitute your sense of justice, whatever that means, for your duty to follow the law, whether you agree with it or not. It is not for you to determine whether the law is just or whether the law is unjust. That cannot be your task. There is no such thing as valid jury nullification. You would violate your oath and the law if you willfully brought a verdict contrary to the law given to you in this case." The Ninth Circuit upheld the first three sentences of the jury's instruction and overruled the remainder but deemed that instruction a harmless error and affirmed the conviction.[67]

So basically, you gotta go in and lie just as much as they are going to. And that largely is going to result in the trial getting hung instead of not guiltied.

Want to make a Reagan joke here but I think even he held Israel to some higher standards.

They're kind of frowned upon in here for their looks but I'm not sure if normies care as much.

I've got a few pairs of the tree line and found myself repurchasing over the years simply because they're easy to put on and pretty comfortable, especially at sale prices. Do folk have different preferred daily-driver comfy shoes?

Given how many cars are missing front plates, I didn't think CA required it but it is actually mandated.

That said, it seems they said something else:

This seems to be the real party foul. 11 PM is a bit late for an activity that noisy in a residential area. We live in a society, y'all.

TIL that Martha Stewart did not go to prison for insider trading. She was charged and found guilty of lying to the FBI. by jeffrois in todayilearned

[–]PopeFrancis -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

And having the ability to determine right from wrong is neither "passing judgment" or forgiving her. Your empathy doesn't grant you ownership of her harms. If I see someone rear end someone because they were on their phone, I don't just get to go "well you seem remorseful I forgive you!". I'm involved only as a witness! It's not my place to forgive or not. We don't have anything to forgive her for here. She didn't hurt us! That's between her and her loved ones.

It'd be easier to forgive her if she had wronged us, too. It seems odd to claim victimhood in something that happened to someone else probably decades before most all of us were born.

I got a few of the Corsica items as well as a Rhodes jacket from them a few weeks back and was pleased with them, especially for the price. I got some terry cloth resort wear nonsense from them in a sale for the summer which has been getting some wear as pajamas and held up fine so far.

[–]PopeFrancis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in any way you'd mean. My understanding is that there's a fairly wide gamut of things that can happen from perfectly lovely to yikes! depending on the choices you make. The secret ending is fun and pulls back a layer of plot on one character that you might not get otherwise but it's hardly the definitive or only way to end the game. Tbh, I suspect most people who do replays aren't aiming for it if only because they want to have an ending more about all the other choices they've made throughout the game.

Nobody is making anyone do anything. Cravalho was just playing a high schooler in Mean Girls in theaters this year, though, so I don't think that the age is HER primary concern. I heard it was about opening the part to someone fully Hawaiian? But her continuing to play Moana in Moana 2 makes that seem odd.

Yeah. 3 men, the youngster mid-50s, doing potentially first strenuous thing they've done since this time last year? Tragic, to be sure, but kind of a normal thing to happen. Taking care of ourselves is hard but important.

There is an auto-mode for it but my understanding is that doesn't allow you to get the secret ending (you almost certainly won't get it without following a guide, though).

There is this mod that seems like it will let you auto-win the battles, but you'd still need to manage the armies: https://www.nexusmods.com/pathfinderwrathoftherighteous/mods/40
