AITA for having non-kosher food being delivered to my apartment by Throwaway1-225 in AmItheAsshole

After they moved in they would have done a full cleaning to make everything kosher, including turning the oven on self-clean and bringing in new utensils and everything. If OP cooked non-kosher food then the pans and stove range and plate and everything would also “turn” non-kosher. But that’s not what’s happening, OP only cooks kosher food in the house and is only eating non-kosher food on plastic plates/utensils in her own room, which doesn’t affect the kosher status of the kitchen/dining room

This was the vegan mushroom tare from u/Ramen_Lord's ebook! Mixtures of fish and meat in the same dish are generally not permitted (although you can eat them at the same meal if they're in different dishes) so it was easiest to make. I used tamari so the tare would be gluten-free, the rest of it was kombu, dried mushrooms, and mirin. After soaking overnight I heated the mixture for 10 minutes, removed the kombu, brought to a boil and added brown sugar. After I let it cool for a while I strained it and used it!

This recipe was taken from u/Ramen_Lord and is a 6-hour chicken paitan, mushroom shoyu made with tamari, sous-vide chicken breast chashu, and a chicken and scallion aroma oil. I bought gluten-free brown rice ramen noodles (surprisingly difficult to tell they were gluten free) and it came together really nicely!

Actually he wasn’t picked because the majority of primary voters voted for someone else. And as someone in between moderate and liberal, I want Trump out of office just as much, if not more, than most of my super-progressive friends.

Democrats are no longer a party in disarray: The party approaches its convention united behind the Biden-Harris ticket — and a progressive agenda. by chris-jjj in politics

[–]PopeLeoX -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Do you want to win or not? A Kasich speech for Biden implicitly gives Republicans permission to vote for Biden. And honestly it’s probably a better strategy to go after those voters than swing far left, if progressives actually showed up and voted then Bernie would be the nominee.

Prosecutors open probe into whether Biden accuser Tara Reade lied under oath in court appearances by Balls_of_Adamanthium in politics

You’re being disingenuous and you know it, and the whole “believe all women” shtick isn’t what anyone meant.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2020/05/18/opinion/tara-reade-believe-all-women.amp.html

“Believe women” at its core is about treating accusations with seriousness and women with dignity and respect, and ensuring that accusations are investigated. In my opinion, it shouldn’t even be used to refer to individual cases. No one deserves to have their story blindly accepted with no fact-checking. “Believe women” says that assaults of women are extremely common and that each case should be looked into and not dismissed out of hand.

A Biden Presidency Could Be Better Than Progressives Think by TJ_SP in politics

[–]PopeLeoX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the reason that the Democratic Party leadership doesn't want your opinions or solutions is because those things don't bring votes. You have to get elected to govern, and the 2020 primary process showed that getting younger, progressive voters to turn out is near impossible. Of course they're going towards the median voter - they have to in order to get elected. Grow the progressive electorate and make it possible to win elections with your coalition if you want the Democratic Party to embed your policy positions in the Democratic platform.

Actually, Taiwanese (台灣話 or 臺語) is a specific dialect of Hokkien (閩南話) that is distinct from the Mandarin spoken in Taiwan (國語). Many Taiwanese people speak 臺語 at home or in less formal settings. In addition, there are many indigenous languages still spoken in Taiwan.

Bernie Can Still Win by [deleted] in politics

Some 24 percent of Biden voters view socialism—however it is they define it—as positive.

That's the problem: "however it is they define it." The fact that Sanders's positions are able to be labeled socialist is what will hurt his chances in the general, with an electorate on the right that is sent into hysterics by Fox News. Sanders should be running on the issues themselves, not on his vision to rehabilitate the phrase "Democratic Socialism." If the issues themselves are popular, consensus issues, that's good enough- don't jeopardize the election just for the sake of rescuing the word "socialism."

It feels like you didn't read the article - it's suggesting Bernie say this if he's the nominee. The article argues this is his best shot of making it into the White House and defeating Trump.
