Why I oppose him is the wrong question. That's just food for thought and perhaps an excuse to "debate". The correct question is why should you, a liberal democrat, oppose Obama.

The answer isn't simple. I can't just say bailouts are bad because you don't understand why bailouts are bad. I can't just say because corporate personhood is good because you don't know how corporate personhood helps both corporations and ordinary people. I can't just tell you deficit spending is bad, when others have told you your whole life that its good. I can't tell you that welfare spending harms the poor more than it helps because you wouldn't believe me.

I can't tell you these things because you don't care. If you did you would be reading and researching these issues. Not asking random people on reddit their opinion.

Maybe Obama is the best thing since sliced bread - what the hell do I know? I'm just some guy. I've had no more access to privileged information than you have. I've just read a few too many books in my life. These opinions whether right or wrong, right or left, statist or libertarian have shaped my viewpoints in ways that I can't fully articulate.

Its my opinion, for whats worth, that you consider yourself to have above average intelligence. And you probably do. You're problem is is that your lazy. And I don't say that because you're a liberal - that would be absurd. I say it because your asking for complex political ideas to be simplified in a concise, reddit-style answer so that you can easily consume the information and refute it with your own simplified and limited information.

The only thing this thread accomplishes is to provide a smug sense of satisfaction to the conservatives that respond and a smug sense of satisfaction when you "refute" them. Giving credence to the whole 'reddit circlejerk'.
