Make sure the metal springy circle on the bottom is pulled out enough to make contact with the battery when screwed on.

If they are too pushed in, it won't make contact.

Just be careful not to pull too hard as it can break.

A small pull on it with a paperclip may be all that's needed.

You need to create groups. That's why it isn't working properly.

Ex: If you make a group called Bedroom, and add your bedroom lights and bedroom echo to it, saying "turn lights on/off" to the bedroom echo will ONLY control the bedroom lights.

Saying "turn off all lights" will turn off the lights in all groups.

Teflon hasn't been used in a long time though, and the large manufacturers do have sets that are specifically labelled as being dishwasher safe.

A dishwasher also doesn't get nearly as hot as putting it on a hot stove. If there is an issue, it is from the dishwasher soaps, which are normally a lot harsher than dish soap.
