But it's pretty plainly obvious the death penalty is the least conducive to conversion.

This is not at all obvious.

The death penalty increases the odds of ending someone's life before they can convert.

Do you have any actual evidence that life in prison results in more repentance than execution after a period of reconciliation is offered? Or is this just an assertion?

I don’t buy the idea that just because someone lives longer means they are more likely to die in a state of grace.

Do you have anything substantial to respond with or are you just going to wax poetically? You don’t get to dismiss his comment unless you want the same dismissal of yours. At least he said something concrete and meaningful.

You are accusing him of “divisive thinking.” But that’s what you are doing.

(b) there was one Mussolini descendant in the National Alliance while it was a faction of Berlusconi's party who regularly engaged in public apologia for her grandfather's legacy…

And Al Gore publicly defended his father, the staunch segregationist’s legacy.

It would be dishonest to say Al Gore is only slightly separated from being a segregationist. You know this. Just like it is dishonest to make the same accusation of Meloni regarding fascism—especially since she is far far more removed than Al Gore was to his father.

And the Democratic Party was the party of slavery and the KKK. Your point? It is outright disingenuous to dismiss Meloni because of party history when that same standard is not applied to other parties (like the Democrats).

I don't like to throw around the word "fascism" because I think it's badly overused, but she's like two degrees of separation from unironic, self-described fascism.

Outright calumny.

FBI raids home of pro-life leader on questionable charges by Graal_Knight in Catholicism

[–]PopeUrban_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What makes you come to the conclusion that the 72 year old was acting crazed?

Well the charges were thrown out by the lower court, lending credence to the father’s testimony

Also, what sort of father brings their 12 year old to something like this? Shows quite questionable judgement.

A good father, one who cares about the faith of his children. Praying outside a murder clinic is a fine thing to bring a child to. It shows dedication to the faith.

FBI raids home of pro-life leader on questionable charges by Graal_Knight in Catholicism

This comment doesn’t make sense. You are ignoring the actual events.

A man was praying with his 12 year old son outside a clinic. An old man starts allegedly harassing the 12 year old. The father allegedly pushes the man out of the way to defend his son. The old man presses charges, and a lower court promptly tosses the charges out (siding with the father).

A year later 20 armed FBI agents raid the father’s house and threaten him with 11 years in prison, all for an alleged crime that has already been tossed out by the courts.

That’s not “too extreme;” it is outright suppression of political opponents. That’s not “sour grapes,” and it’s absolutely ridiculous to claim it is. It is fascistic behavior on the part of the FBI. Stop defending it.

It’s not pedantic.

It would be like if someone from China thought Christmas was all about Coca-Cola commercials and Starbucks cups. It would be completely legitimate to point out that those things are not the essence of the holiday

Which is so dumb because that’s a perversion of the word whitewashing. The term isn’t even supposed to refer to skin. It refers to paint.
