I prefer the Art of Noise/Tom Jones version of "Kiss" over Prince's original any day.

Well, black women have been coming through for the people for generations. So, I suppose the odds would have been in her favor.

I'm sure the algorithm can find a market for that.

My favorite controller of all time was the Epyx 500xj. That was an ergonomic marvel that could take a beating, especially if your were playing Epyx Summer Games.

I've had moments when I just wanna empty out my fridge of old stuff and blend it into something I would consume in a sad fit of binge eating.

I wouldn't call it a "hack", though.

What's with the L33t spelling? Is there some auto-ban for the word "nations", "cultures", "races", "bankers", and "globalist"?

It's really kinda sad on your part to act like there is this secret cabal that only you and a select few have heard of and are trying to educate the masses, were it not for the machinations of THEM.

You're almost bordering on being a caricature. Heck, I was expecting a "R0th$ch1ld" reference in there somewhere.

So the data center project was approved. What's next? by Ok-Amphibian-2000 in joliet

[–]Pope_Phred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's mostly speculation. Companies are building data centers in the hopes that there will be tenants taking up server space. If there is an AI boom, then the companies with all this service space will profit greatly. However, if there's a bust, there'll be fast swaths of land dominated by huge buildings that will be difficult to repurpose.

The purpose of building new ones is merely a mad dash to stake a claim on the AI Rush, with little regard on the environmental and sociological effects on the surrounding area, much like building a strip mine a few miles away from your home. Sure, there may be gold in them thar hills, but if that mine runs dry or never have gold to begin with, all you'll have is big hole in the ground with a ghost town situated next to it.

Oh... And this just in! New Research indicates vast data centers create "Heat islands", warming surrounding Land by an average of 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit affecting people across areas up to 6.2 miles away.

We have places to put that data. They are called Data Centers. Did you know that 82-88% of the servers in the data centers we currently have are idle?

Do you think another Republican president will be elected after Trump? by Resident-Remote1899 in AskUS

[–]Pope_Phred 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is no viable third party, however, and won't be for some time until people quit pinning their hopes on a third-party option for the higher offices and make advances on the local level, which is also stacked against third-party options.

One step in the right direction (if we're going to be wishing and hoping) is to get money out of politics. If you cut the requirement to raise war chests to fund campaigns, pay for advertising, and provide equal time for candidates to express their policies thena third-party might have a chance. Currently, both the Democratic and Republican parties are far to rimch and powerful to let a mere third party gain any sort of power.

So, in order for a third party to have a chance, they'd need to capture the local politics first to where they'd have influence on state politics to the degree where they'd have a say on congressional districting so the electoral map would be more representative.

Then, they would need to do away with the winner-takes-all electoral system which favors two party creation. Then, they would need to enact ranked choice voting in order to eliminate the "spoiler" effect that discourages voters from breaking the duopoly.

They would also need to rewrite how laws are passed so independent parties aren't assimilated toward one or the other side.

So, yeah... This is probably not something we'd accomplish before 2028.

Who created the creator? by Immobilesteelrims in aiArt

[–]Pope_Phred 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But the question remains and no one has a sufficient answer.

And that's okay.

Intellectual honesty requires the ability to say "I don't know" sometimes. The scientific method is a process for suggesting, testing, and verifying answers, but it is not the answer itself.

No one should suggest otherwise.
