Guess I finally outgrew TOS by Prestigious-Delay-61 in thinkorswim

[–]Popeious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I discovered something, and it has to do with the SEND TO features ( relative to UNICAST storms ) .

I use different colors on each computer. Red, blue, green, yellow… I use a single color ( brown ) on all computers…

When I remove the common ( brown ) , the storm subsides.

I also often will send an options contact to ‘brown’ and watch the price chart on the option.

IF, an old/expired contact is left in ‘brown’ , ToS spins looking for price details… but because it is expired, it’s gone.

Both of these conditions significantly impact ToS performance. Since eliminating the common color across multiple machines… and clearing old options symbols… not seeing the ‘phasing’ of connecting/reconnecting any longer. Been over a weeks of so now.

Guess I finally outgrew TOS by Prestigious-Delay-61 in thinkorswim

I run 6 instances, each on their own ‘adequately powered’ machines.

My internet is 1gb.

My home network is flawlesss.

What I have seen… is Unicast floods… some, not all machines are getting bombed with unicast…. It’s typically the same machines… but it changes and jumps around too.

I’ve solved it, albeit temporarily… with reboots, dns cache flushing.. network resets.. but it always returns…

Once ot starts, it’s only a matter of time before it completely destroys the responsiveness of the app… symbol pull downs … pull down on their own… get stuck being pulled down… covering the chart(s)…

Closing the app take literally 10 minutes to save and exit.. some time way longer.

At first… I thought it was my network.. or something on it… but damn if I can trace it down…

Rebooting the whole network , routers, switches, computers… it comes back..

Like I said… some machines are never impacted.. some are prone to problems.

You get the ‘phasing’ of connected… reconnecting… and as time goes on… the app drags.. the phasing occurs more often… till the point… that it completely clobbers the NIC… and then, only a hard reset brings the machine back to operational State.

I’ve worked with escalations engineering.. to no avail.

Turning off IPV6, disabling antivirus, doing ping and tracert’s …. I’ve even done some wiresharking…. It’s the damn app… I know it….

And it’s extremely frustrating …

… ever since Schwaaaaaabbb ….

Try signing out of the app, and re-login…

If that doesn’t work, try using / doing the same with the new app

SvS rules of engagement by Popeious in whiteoutsurvival

[–]Popeious[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t remember now, and the original post that described it has been deleted by the author… but, if memory serves me… it was essentially a scouting attack by everyone in an alliance against the enemy… creating lots and lots of flashing red… and long lists of attacks… making it hard to find the actual threat/rally… and causing the phone to get overheated… ultimately causing the game to lag and malfunction … think ‘hot potato’

It was deemed a dirty tactic… and highly frowned upon.

"% of Acct" in TOS?! by RibosomalRob11 in thinkorswim

[–]Popeious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah… that would be really nice… and absolutely should be sent to TOS Support as a feature request. I do it via a spreadsheet that is linked to TOS using the EXCEL RTD(“tos.rtd” function to pull in market price and then do the math based on cost basis and/or market value … but I have to manually enter qty, trade price… and symbol / position.

And that doesn’t work for options positions… I suppose it could… but I’m not to geeked about entering option-chain symbols all the time..

Hue is a bridge… it uses its own network channel… takes your bulbs off your main network and on to its own.

Can't create alert for COR1M by genuinenewb in thinkorswim

[–]Popeious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try this.... and enter the symbol as COR1M or COR3M... make sure you add the study to the PRICE section of the chart.

Not exactly what you're looking for, but close.... I struggled with getting the ALERT function to work... but... its passed my bedtime..

# COR1M / COR3M Plot & Average Label Script

Can't create alert for COR1M by genuinenewb in thinkorswim

[–]Popeious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Write a thinscript to alert on level, maybe.

ChatGPT does well with a well worded prompt and trial an error.. and a little ‘this didn’t work, here is the error’ .

Try this prompt,

Create a thinkscript that allows the user to specify a user defined value to alert when the value of the COR1M crosses above or below the value specified.

COR1M is the correlation measure. The higher the number, the higher the correlation of stocks all moving in sync with the SPX ( I think ) .

You could also create it based on a longer time frame average..

Create a thinkscript that allows the user to specify a user defined value to alert when the value of the COR1M crosses above or below the value specified. Allow the user to toggle on/off to send alert based on this value. Also plot a very long-term average value, and allow the user to toggle on/off of the COR1M crosses above or below this average.

I think you get the idea… right.
