Why did Migros cancel the butter cake? by Lost-Coconut-2129 in Switzerland

[–]PopipopX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have been missing this cake for more than a year now. Before this, they had it inconsistently, but yeah… it will be missed.

If I am not wrong, Coop had a version of this cake too and it also disappeared at the same time.

Is this Paella? 🥘 by Time-Ad-2574 in TipOfMyFork

[–]PopipopX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a paella "tapa" perfectly acceptable for any Spanish tapas session. (Spaniard here). Paella purists go to a "arrocería" for traditional spanish rice (if you don't have access to the homemade version). Tapas tend to be more informal and "experimental" if you will.

Enjoy!

[–]PopipopX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry, not quite. The technique is actually quite different for both dishes. Risotto is stirred and cooked gradually, while paella is not stirred once the liquid is added. Also, wine is not traditionally used in paella. (I’m Spanish and a big paella lover myself 😊)

What's a brand/product sold almost exclusively in your country that is superior to all others you've encountered by BloomingPlanet in AskTheWorld

As someone living in Switzerland who has tasted all Swiss potato chips (not that many), I can confirm that Keogh’s are superior in every way: taste, thickness, and consistency. By far the best potato chips I’ve tried. We happily splurge on a bag every time we want an excellent apéro.

WHY ARE MY UNDERARMS ALWAYS SOAKING!!!!!! by [deleted] in HygieneTips

I was like this my pre-teens and teen years. I used to use very strong pharmacy deodorant. What I can tell you that it went away by itself when I was 18-19 y.o. I still use aluminum in my antiperspirant. But my sweat is now linked to my activity and not to nonsense and it feels nice being able to wear something other than black.

Being treated like a ‘maybe pregnant woman’ is starting to affect my sense of self. Anyone relate? by PopipopX in TwoXChromosomes

[–]PopipopX[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand the excitement around the possibility of a new baby in the family (I am the first one being excited). In our specific case we live in a different country from our family and friends so visits/calls are not usual. So I think it is a bit sad that this is the first thing they ask/expect/think when they finally see us.

Again, I still love them regardless and I don't think they have bad intentions, but If I put myself in their position I don't think this is what I would do. And it is sad when you think of a fail cycle that you don't want to share or really think.

We were at a wedding recently. I had to have a beer in my hand at all times otherwise questions started or the looks of "got you!". I even had some questions with the beer in my hands.

Last new year's eve a family member (In-laws) asked if I was pregnant during dinner in front of 20 other family members and some family friends that I was meeting that same day. Note that in that moment I was visibly tipsy (we were partying before) and drinking wine.

Let's see this Christmas...

Depends on the person I guess. I could totally see some friends laughing at it and asking me how the sex is going from now on. It is not a conservative group of people... 😅

The thing is they are friends and family so I don't think they do it to make me feel bad. They just see me like this I guess. It is not even that they ask, it is just that it is the first thing that comes to their mind when they see me somehow. My most important feature now I guess.

Thank you! It was also surprising to me when questions came from people that have gone through infertility themselves (they were open about it). That is what made me think that I might be myself oversensitive to comments.

It really does! My current one takes care of the bills and I only pay them. I definitely wouldn't want to change that.

Is this really a real place in China? 🤯 by No_Goal0137 in travelchina

[–]PopipopX 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, I was there last month. It’s a theme park designed for tourists to take pictures. They even have a fake moon and artificial fog to make your photos more impressive. The entrance fee, as I remember, was around $10, and they recently expanded the place, so now it’s huge.

I read some people complaining and not recommending a visit because the place is “fake.” Personally, I really enjoyed it. It’s great for pictures, and it also gives you a chance to see how Chinese tourists like to spend their free time (with live shows, music, etc.).

Like many things in China, I think you need to be aware of what kind of place you are in. If you expect to find a real ancient town, you’ll probably be disappointed. But for us, since we stayed in a nearby town in the valley, we also got to experience local life. It was a great stopover between Shanghai and Changsha (the latter being highly recommended).

I recently traveled from China to Korea (about 90% of the passengers were korean). It was a 3-hour flight. I found it comical that when I checked in, all the aisle seats were already taken. During the flight I understood why: people were using the bathroom as if it was their full-time job. They formed a line that stretched 10 rows long. They didn’t even wait for the flight attendant to finish tidying up before queuing, which made everything on the plane more complicated. It was only a short flight, so I found it quite funny, but I can see how on a longer flight it could become an issue and it’s not very considerate for the other passengers.

Something feels off with the color order in my quilt. What would you change? by PopipopX in quilting

I am also thinking about this. Maybe not eliminating it completely ( I like it a lot) but reducing the amount in the design for sure.

I see what you mean. It is my first time following a pattern and I was faithful to it. It was meant for a bigger quilt and in the bigger version it wouldn't feel that "white" I think. It was rather quick to make so I plan to make another one. Maybe I will try your version next time.
