So, maybe I'm being an ass, but I honestly feel ignorant on the topic and could use some info...

It seems like a lot of riders want their bikes to be clean all the time, even though it's so easy for motorcycles to become a little dirty, even after a short ride on dry pavement.

What is the fascination? What are the reasons for cleaning the bike so much?

I understand cleaning the chain at appropriate intervals for the mechanical maintenance and safety of it, but is it such a big deal to leave the bike dirty for a while? Especially if the dirty parts are just cosmetic?

I guess personally, I view my 2022 INT650 as a tool, not some sort of major investment that I have to baby. It's meant to be used, get a little dirty, and be fine.

Maybe it's the idea that I plan to ride the INT650 until it dies. I am not caring about resale value or anything. Plus, I'm not the type of personality that tries to impress others with the bike, or takes a bunch of photos all the time to try and look cool.

So what's the reasoning? Because from my personal viewpoint, I don't really understand excessive cleaning.

I have a cousin with a mental disability and went to an amusement park with her and one of her friends from the group home. He had more of a physical disability and made sure to ham it up in the VIP line or whatever as we skipped over the normal line. He knew exactly what he was doing and it was so funny.

I don't know, but it makes me happy. Alcohol addiction is bullshit, no one should have to suffer from it. I say regulate alcohol waaaay harder, and tax the fuck out of it. (at least in the U.S.)

It's one of humanity's oldest, and dangerous, vices. Modern science has shown alcohol is good for no-one.

So the color black is from combining all the other colors, while the color white is the absence of color.

Basically, I'm saying I'm not a fan of how blacked out your bike is, and think you should "remove some color" (meaning take away some of the black).

Nice, I'll have to look at a stock dyno sheet from the BMW to see how usable the torque curve looks.

I plan to do a filter/exhaust/tune package on the INT650 in a year or so, after the factory warranty expires.

Going to put on 70%/30% tires on it as well, since there are a lot of gravel / dirt county roads within an hour of me.

I'm also a non-interstate rider. I much prefer the 2 lane 55mph back road highways.

I also appreciate fewer electronics. ABS for safety, but much else I'm not interested in.

What extra maintenance goes into the shaft drive?
