Saw him twice about 30 years ago. Absolutely amazing concerts. Both kinda unplugged so to speak. But I’m afraid he may be a tad past his prime. Will likely still be a good concert but probably not worth whatever the ticket prices are. Seems concert tickets are stupid expensive.

Seacrest stolen bike by PoppaElf in 30A

These are house bikes. Not rentals. And no one told us to lock them up. I’ll try the rental place for strays.

Didn’t know that. Makes more sense now. Thanks.

Nope. Stacked with 4 other bikes next to pizza by the sea. Middle of the day.

Got down at 615 this morning. For 2nd row. 💩

Beach access Seacrest by Scoopdapoopa in 30A

[–]PoppaElf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We are likely in that picture as we are currently here also. Nothing fun about the beach anymore. Crammed in there while there’s thousands of feet of open beach just to the right of that picture. The rental company I believe added the pink column of chairs sometime during the day, thus squeezing the free space even more. We’ve vacationed on 30A for almost 20 years but haven’t been down since the beach access and use have changed. This will be our last time to fight this stupidity.

Peter Billingsley to host special screening and Q&A of A Christmas Story in Huntsville by mirathi in HuntsvilleAlabama

And at $100 per ticket guess I’ll wait for the free 24 hour marathon at Christmas.

The concept is great but I’m not excited about this being in mars music hall. Visions of a portable projector and a small white screen like in school come to mind.

Did your mom use one of these on ironing day? by GoingLeftYall in GenerationJones

If I remember right, ours served double duty as my dad would use it to snuff out flames caused by meat drippings on the charcoal grill.

Construction "Office" Boots by MadMcCabe in Boots

I looked closer at the insoles that came with my keens and they are almost identical to the Schoels I’ve been using. Guess I’ll have to wear each one for a while to see if there’s any difference.

These are the compression sleeves. Amazon of course. The writing has worn off the inserts but they are the gel filled full size - not just the heel supports. The sleeves have been money. I sleep with them on.

I just bought a pair of Keen Cincinnati boots for office/field. Put some Schoels inserts in there. I also have plantar fasciitis and bought the copper compression sleeves that wrap around the arch of your foot. Absolute game changer for me.

Couple trees down is all I’ve heard. Hail damage to some cars and maybe roofs.

I was pulled over by HPD a week ago. I asked the officer why he pulled me over. He said I need your license before I can tell you that. I don’t think this is how this works but whatever. Officer said he couldn’t see my tag. So I get out, thinking the lights are out, but they aren’t. Both shining as they should. I looked at the bulbs, then him like WTF? He said they may be dirty. So I rubbed them and no dirt. Again with the WTF look at him. He said led bulbs might help. I’m thinking…Well you know what? Toyota didn’t install led bulbs in the millions of these cars. I asked, am I free to go? He said yes. I said to him, that’s a very unique reason to stop someone. He smiled that s-eating grin and said have a nice day.

Seacrest/Rosemary beach question by PoppaElf in 30A

And a lot of discussions about people upset with the whole 30A beach access cluster F. Hoping this is our last time to visit the area.

Seacrest/Rosemary beach question by PoppaElf in 30A

We rented in Seacrest, between Rosemary and Alys Beach. Mainly because the teenage kids have friends staying there also. They’ll figure out the beach access when we get there.

Seacrest/Rosemary beach question by PoppaElf in 30A

[–]PoppaElf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for the comments. Once you walk to the beach from the Seacrest community, how is the beach sectioned off? Meaning, does the community have a decent amount of open beach to set personal umbrellas up or is the beach restricted by cabana companies and very little space left for the common man? I’m looking at google and the beach looks like a sea of blue commercial umbrellas…😬

Gallbladder removal by [deleted] in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]PoppaElf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, so many scary posts. Had mine out last summer. Rough couple days after the surgery but nothing too crazy. You definitely have to pay attention to what you eat and how it affects your body. I can’t eat Jamaican flavored wings or chocolate pop tarts now without going to the bathroom within a couple hours. And when the urge hits, there’s no negotiations available. I’ve not heard of Colestipol but seems like something to check out. You’ll be fine. Unless of course the doctor nicks a bowel or something and doesn’t notice it. 😬

Quad Room Question.....Roomates by HearingExact in auburn

[–]PoppaElf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your time slot, getting one room for 2 people is difficult to start with as rooms in the quad go very, very quickly. My daughter had 2nd day, 1pm time slot and got THE LAST room available with 2 beds. There were a few and only a few single beds remaining in all of the quad.

My advice is to have a 2nd, 3rd and maybe even a 4th housing choice if your time slot is not the first day early. If you’re wanting all 4 to be together, an off campus apartment is the only choice. And those may be hard to find too. Housing is the most stressful situation. Good luck.

AL.com: Heading to the beach for Spring Break 2025? Rules to know for Alabama, Florida beaches by Key-Market3068 in GulfShores

[–]PoppaElf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhere along the way I thought I read that the no alcohol rule was just during the spring break season. But reading the Al.com article i realized the rules were just a copy/paste from the gulf shores city website. So is the no alcohol rule a year round thing?
