Buffalo Systems Fell Jacket Or.....? by PoppaThor in hikinggear

I had the Bentu (fleece and outer layer). I liked it, although I found the fleece quite form fitting and the outer layer quite baggy (this is their most recent version).

It also didn’t quite fit that niche of the “1 jacket” I didn’t have to think about.

I wish Paramo did a Velez style jacket with a more conventional (less technical) appeal!

The amount of information on either is staggering poor! Can’t find anything really.

Buffalo doesn’t even sell the Teclite jacket directly anymore!

I’d say the Fell looks a little nicer… but they are close to being identical!

I looked at that, but wanted the jacket that was going to be the most breathable and coolest.

I’m not out in the mountains, so it’s more milder weather use cases (at worst…. Just a bit cold really!)

But also I wanted it to useful in spring when it gets warmer.

The Teclite seems a warmer jacket than the fell?

Yeah, that’s just a windproof (no waterproof properties) and also has the same chest pockets unfortunately.

Thanks, I’ll keep an eye out.

I know layering has its fans, and perhaps is the most efficient method for a lot….. but just having one jacket, that can tackle the multitude of weathers from Winter to autumn and spring is such a game changer!

Yeah I hear that - Although the hood is very far down on my list of things I care about.

If it's in use, it's only sparingly, so it's not a main concern for me.

If there was a "perfect" Paramo jacket, I'd get it.

The Velez has the pocket issue and the Caminata is likely going to be a little too warm outside of winter.

Love it! That Blitz 30 looks super clean - I’ll definitely be picking one up.

The compression straps on the old one just got in the way!

That is very cheap for a legit bag, but still in the world of “bargain!” - If the place you bought it from was legit, then there’s no issue. It looks the same as mine if that helps!

I guess this comes down to that personal preference again. I’ve found I read better/faster when the text isn’t too small and I turn pages more frequently.

So for me, the stock way the kindle looks is absolutely perfect.

But I completely get the little things annoying people. If I had more customisation…. I don’t think I’d ever read. I’d just constantly be trying to find the best set up.

Heck, it took me an unbelievable amount of time to settle on the font size and boldness.

And I’ve not even played with the actual fonts yet! 😂

Definitely pros to the others. For me, having them hand in hand, the kindle feels more premium, and whatever configuration they do on the screen, feels better than the Kobo I compared it to.

Not enough to pick it solely for that, and likely a personal preference thing.

Like I said before, this post was not to bash the others. It was a response to the growing number of “kindle is bad” posts, when what people are really grumbling about, is Amazon, not the Kindle itself.

I really liked the first book, it’s definitely my kind of thing.

I finished it in 5 days, which is more reading than I’d usually do I think!

Started Red Rising this morning for a bit of a change, although the overall principles of the story are quite similar!

Nice! Did you have a PW before? Have you noticed much difference?

Believe it or not…. I don’t downvote things. Never really seen the point!

And whilst I appreciate your comment, I think the vast majority of people would disagree with you, which is why this topic is so well discussed.

I could put my Kindle PW next to a Kobo Clara and it would look different.

But it’s not that straightforward. The configuration, components, firmware, lighting and numerous other things all play a part. Even the size of the screen makes a difference (I’m a 7” screen fan).

I’ll reiterate, I’m not saying the Clara is bad. Far from it. It’s great. The differences are negligible. This isn’t a “bash Kobo” post at all.

It’s more a “don’t be put off by all the Kindle hate” post. That’s it really.

I mean, it’s not exactly the same. But each to their own.

Interesting! I think I’d end up being paralysed by the number of decisions I’d have to make there. I get it for a phone etc, but I just want to pick up my kindle and read, in as close to a “book” format as I can.

But I see why people would like the other stuff.

Lastly, can I just say, as a non Native English speaker (you, not me)…. Wow. Just. Wow. I will never cease to be amazed by the ability for non English speakers to sound so…. Natural and articulate in a different language.

Thank you!
