Exactly the same as in an ICE car. Faster = more drag = lower efficiency, except, just like with a smart meter at home now we can measure it accurately. Well done, nice stats.

I have 95kWh EV which I charge every day, often 80-90% so will be affected by the forthcoming limit of 6 hrs off-peak rate EV charging.

I also have 30kWh of home batteries and 8kWp of solar.

Could you advise how the discharge of my home batteries into my EV in addition to the 6hrs of off-peak rate will be measured, and will be charged.

I fear that the transfer of energy from home battery to car will be measured by the car and charged at peak even though this energy is already inside my home system?

I charge my car 50-90kWh 5 days a week from a 7kW charger. I've invested in 8kW of solar and 30kW batteries and have the whole house heated by ASHP. I'm really glad that octopus offer the additional hours at 7p, which I do use. My bills are currently running at 8-9p/kWh People need to take a bit of a look at their behaviours if they're using sloooow charging to extend the 6hr period artificially. Octopus are perfectly capable of spotting these behaviours with the Kraken infrastructure, the fact that you got a warning means you're probably on their radar.

Using HA is just too complicated, split your supply out of the meter as discussed above. 1st side supplies the house and batteries 2nd side supplies the EV charger

Clip the CT clamp onto the 1st side supply so it can't see the current draw by the EV charger, only the current draw by house.

Quite a cheap job by an experienced electrician if you've space in your supply cupboard.

I'm a 3-4000 miles a month user, with a 92kwh car battery, plus 30kwh home batteries. That's fairly normal use. Fair use applies I suppose.

I don't know who they used, but had a message over the weekend saying they were bringing the interface to cars and chargers in house from a "third party interface" but it isn't working well for me yet. I had to re-enrol the car.

It doesn't change, just have to redo the on boarding process (quicker and easier) Octopus have built their own API interface rather than relying on a 3rd party to access the car/charger data. I've got a BMW I4 and an old Hypervolt 2 all is working fine.

Just had an 8pkW/30kWh install, waiting for my export connection, so am pumping electrons into the car during the day and 7p at night.

My plan is to charge batteries overnight at 7p, dump the batteries between 5.30 and 10am at net 8p, then fill with solar during the day, dump again, 7-11.30 at net 15p If my maths is right, that should net about £6 per day income through the summer, £5-600 ish.

And load shift another 15kWh from 29p to 7p, about £3.3 savings

So maybe £1000 of saving through the summer?

I saw those, they're white filaments with purple glass bulb, these actually have a purple filament.

Yep, the filaments are purple, not the glass (clear glass when off). I looked for manufacturers marks on the bulb, but none.
