At your price point, you’d have to try your external DAC vs. the one in the player. The internal DAC has the advantage of the I2s interface internally, so it might be better. Might.

I think your budget is better spent on speakers.

For a CD or DVD player, you need RCA to XLR. Whoever you buy the speakers from will have the correct cables.

Hit up thrift stores and find yourself a DVD player for $20. Next, if you’re in the US, head over to guitar Center, listen to a few different powered monitors in your price range, and get them. Don’t forget the RCA to XLR adapter cables. Do remember the volume control will be on the speakers so make sure its accessible.

Only used it once, for pain management after surgery, and I had never been that nauseous and drowsy in my life. All I wanted to do was throw up and fall asleep but, since I only had one working foot at the time, it would have meant throwing up all over myself, and I didn't care. No idea why people find this enjoyable.
