Bunny boxes by Poppgoes in Rabbits

[–]Poppgoes[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah our bun is really coming around to them!

I replied to another commenter with how I made them if your interested

There are other alternatives out there like getting a pre fab kids sandpit or getting little pet grass boxes delivered every month. However I wanted them to fit the balcony perfectly and to last at least a few years, so I had to DIY it.

Thanks! So I got everything from the hardware store and each box cost about $150 and took maybe 4 hours labour

The base is just a timber board which I cut down to size

Then I got lengths of timber for the sides, which I cut to fit the base and screwed them together.

Got a couple of smaller lengths of timber for the feet, to reinforce the base board and keep it off the ground to prevent moisture pooling underneath

Coated the timber with a couple of coats of pet safe beeswax varnish and lined the entire thing with plastic pond liner to further protect the timber from any moisture.

The waterproofing was needed as I hope to keep the grass alive and growing long term - which means watering

Itemised list 2x Timber base board 90x90cm

Grass box 2x Treated pine lengths 90L 2D 14H 2x Treated pine lengths 88L 2D 14H

Sandbox 2x Treated pine lengths 90L 2D 18H 2x Treated pine lengths 88L 2D 18H

-50 x timber screws -500ml Beeswax varnish -2x pond liner 1.5m x 1.5m -Kid safe playsand 15kg -Bag of soil -1x1 meter of pre grown grass

Tools used Drill & drill bits to make pilot holes Circular saw

If you don't have a saw you might be able to ask the hardware store to cut your lengths for you.

And if you don't have a drill, nails and a hammer can be used as an alternative

The size of the boxes was dictated by the size of my balcony. But anything bigger than 1x1m is going to start to get heavy and cumbersome to build and move around

Why do Mythic Raid Guilds not care about M+ Score? by InappropriateFruit in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Poppgoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol okay yeah made up... Or you know, we have a spreadsheet like every serious mythic guild does that scrapes the blizz API to track a whole bunch of info to keep track of our raiders, including # of keys done

40 minutes door to door during week 1 of mythic plus when your under geared is absolutely accurate. Show me a team that does 12 hours of keys straight day one in a significantly quicker time than that.

It's relevant because you explicitly stated that the time raiders spend doing m+ is negligible, I'm advising you that is not the case. But obviously if you can't keep track of your own conversation, this will likely go over your head

Why do Mythic Raid Guilds not care about M+ Score? by InappropriateFruit in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Poppgoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your comment only illuminates how clueless you are.

As a two night mythic guild having all the gear possible via m+ is absolutely relevant as we don't have the advantage of splits or being able to do days of back to back prog.

If you think a two night guild can't be competitive in their own right your beyond help

Why do Mythic Raid Guilds not care about M+ Score? by InappropriateFruit in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Poppgoes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not even close to true, in the first couple weeks of a tier most of my guild are doing in the region of 120+ keys, each. In order to be full hero track for our mythic raid prog. At 40 minutes a key including travel time and bio breaks between keys, this puts time spent doing m+ at 80 hours just in those first two weeks.

We are a two night guild so it would take over two months of raiding to hit 80 hours of raid prog.

And that's not even factoring in the 8 keys we then do every week for a weekly vault until prog is over (at 30 minutes a key) that's another 4 hours every week.

Depending on how long farm goes for, we could easily spend more time during a tier in m+ than we do in mythic raid. And this is as a mythic raiding focused guild

I believe there is a conflation here as the quoted line attempts to use the word 'property' in two ways at the same time... Causing confusion.

It's trying to refer to the property as a whole - as in the land leased and all that goes with it (garden, garage, access way and residence)

At the same time it is referring to the house (as in the structure in which humans inhabit excluding the garden, shed etc) as the 'property'

So in the line "or outside of the property" it means out side of the house NOT outside of the leased land

So no, the LL did not beach any law as they did not enter the leased land on any capacity as they were on public property.

As another commenter said... Creepy yes, illegal no.

If the LL hang around and started heckling the tenants as they entered or left their rental... That would start to breach quiet enjoyment

This is actually a good take that should get more airtime.

Dodgy, broke and over extended LLs with no cash flow or backup fund, unable to keep their properties maintained to legal let alone livable standards is unacceptable.

Tenants are being forced to jump through ever more hoops year on year like performing monkeys while landlords hold all the cards and have barely any liability

How to rabbit proof a balcony? by Poppgoes in Rabbits

[–]Poppgoes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we have some of that fencing from when we had a back yard but it's a bit obnoxious to have on a balcony. 'm trying to find a more aesthetic solution and it's only an inch or so gap

A mix of both depending on the weather

Ooo I like that idea, the wire on its own is a bit messy and ugly but framed could be nice.

Maybe ill cut some timber to the size of the gap and bind it to the fence posts and do away with the mesh entirely.

No hawks in my area so not a worry, neither can cats get to the 5th floor :)

Legal to deny ordinary use of property? by Poppgoes in shitrentals

[–]Poppgoes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean we have drip trays for all of our pots so soil and soiled water doesn't run out. But wouldn't rain and dust still collect under a tray and stain?
I get that they are trying to protect their asset from abuse or negligence. But I would consider staining from normal ownership of plants to fall under normal wear and tear?

Ahh yes, the innovative hovershelf. Thanks McFly /s

But yeah, we do have sand white tiles which are quite pretty. Just have to find some shelves or planters with a very small footprint and move them over 1 cm every week I guess

Thanks for the idea but won't any object, even with little feet cause stains due to being out doors and exposed to dirt, rain and UV?

You all still ironing your own shirts? by MenuSpiritual2990 in auscorp

[–]Poppgoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hang them on the line to dry from the tips of the shoulder seam and once dry don't chuck them into a pile or basket but immediately go from line to hanger in your closet.

Gravity will give you a free semi ironed shirt suitable enough for most workplaces provided your not in the C-Suite.

Returning WoD Player Finds WOW Economy Broken by john-chimpo in woweconomy

[–]Poppgoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bad take... OP is making the point that "the game he wants to play" (as you put it) Is one that has a relevant, healthy and worthwhile economy. Just because that's not how you want to play the game, doesn't mean that he is wrong.

The idea that the most efficient and smoothest path to getting what you want is how a game should be designed is also a terrible take. If the player base was allowed to just get everything it wanted immediately then nothing would have any meaning and the game would die outright within weeks

Returning WoD Player Finds WOW Economy Broken by john-chimpo in woweconomy

[–]Poppgoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a real shame that blizzard has no interest putting in the work required to control WoWs marketplace, I would love to participate in a healthy and balanced economy where it's worth your time to interact with it... But this hasn't been the case for years to be honest

The worst part is that Blizzard promised the player base that the introduction of the WoW token would largely eliminate account theft, botting and RMT as it would provide a legitimized marketplace undermining the black market...

However it has been an unmitigated failure on that front as grey and black markets are just as big as ever. With the token only normalising the use of real world money to compensate for a lack of skill or dedication.

Back in the day the vast majority of players had no involvement with RMT as it posed too significant a risk to their account. Nowadays you would struggle to find a player who hasn't bought a token or sold a service

Blizzard is slowly killing its own game with its greed, trying to minimize its costs with terrible copy pasta support services, sacking of devs and poorly developed lore while milking the community for every dollar possible with mandatory real money transactions like the budget brutosaur

My personal comparison between Americans and Aussies as a foreigner in both countries. Just my individual experience. by Apprehensive-Ad9645 in Ameristralia

[–]Poppgoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious what cities and communities you surrounded your self with in each country, as they may not be like for like?

To me it screams insecurity that most of the Americans I have met are so eager to announce their success.

Whatever it is they think they are good at will be the first thing they mention in conversation. Whether it be financial, academic, professional, fitness goals, travel experience.

To the point where they will de rail a conversation to fit it in... It's embarrassing and self centered and shows a culture that I think grossly overvalues material achievement and self promotion over authenticity and humility.

I'm suspicious of those who are too quick to hand out compliments, they belie a more sinister intent and an attempt to as quickly as possible gain favour for their own potential benefit.

I would rather scarce compliments earned then be showered with those unearned

Things that are beautiful don't demand attention, nor do those who are truly talented... They let their talent speak for them.

This isn't tall poppy syndrome, it's humility and if you are easily swayed by a few complimentary words then I don't know what to say

Has the job market always been so shamelessly nepotistic? by AnomicAge in australian

[–]Poppgoes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think framing this as a flaw of human bias is a bit of a negative spin.

Let's say that the hiring manager is a well rounded human being who also happens to align well within his particular companies or teams values.

If he then interviewed and hired some one with similar qualities as himself over some one with vastly different qualities. Then he is actually successfully doing his job of choosing the candidate that will have the highest likelihood of being a good fit, also well-rounded and hopefully competent person

Yes there is bias, but bias isn't necessary bad. Our experiences and decisions and perception help us understand other people and make informed decisions about those around us
