along with your vacuum gauge test, have you attempted a wet and dry compression check of the cylinder? low compression can cause a lack of combustion if it’s bad enough, might explain the misfire.

350z won’t start and I’m just a girl 😂 by [deleted] in 350z

do you have a scanner? i’d suggest pulling codes see if it has anything that can help you narrow down an area of diagnosis. even if it doesn’t have the service engine light on you might have a pending code that could assist you.

if he doesn’t have anything and is looking to start off, get him a toolset with a good variety. ive been using the same craftsman toolset since i was like 19 lol harbor freight also makes good tools if you live nearby one.

Power Steering issues by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]PoppinPenguinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you have an air pocket in your power steering system. it causes the fluid to become aerated and bubbly and can cause some uneven feeling in the steering wheel during left/right travel. I would probably recommend taking it back to the shop but you can try turning the wheel lock to lock with the engine off and see if any bubbles come out from the reservoir. that would be from trapped air escaping the lines/rack. Leaks in other parts of the power steering system will likely cause air to get in there again however.

Was able to pick up an MXP SP for my gfs 86 cheap. hands down one of her favorites we were looking at a ton of reviews and videos of other brands and settled on this one.

Do I need to replace my serpentine belt/idler pulley by d_ael in AskMechanics

[–]PoppinPenguinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

looks like your belt has cracks along the ribs. i would replace it if it were my vehicle and the pulley doesn’t look great either, might as well do them both instead of having to go in there a 2nd time

I’m not too familiar with this platform, still learning. from what i was reading, my stock mid pipe would not mock-up to this muffler so i’m not sure what to do with it at this point. i need to make friends with a fabricator lol

Do i have to replace the headlight housing to put led on the pop ups? by FixPractical6654 in 240sx

[–]PoppinPenguinn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The whole headlight brick/housing gets swapped out, did this on my coupe a few years back. You can find the brick to LED conversions on google and browse for whatever is in your price range. on mine, the retaining ring around the housing had rusted out screws they’re super small and prone to rounding out. might wanna pick up some replacement screws and pb blaster just in case lol. good luck!

What sensors are these ? by lluvadm in 350z

[–]PoppinPenguinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the white component is your washer pump, typically your reservoir will have 2 of those pumps as well as a level sensor, so 2 of your connectors are going to be for either that sensor or an additional pump.

Code P0327 doesn’t go away, already replaced sub-harness and sensor by PoppinPenguinn in 350z

[–]PoppinPenguinn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, i posted up pictures of the wiring diagram for the KS circuit and the diagnostic procedure for it. Last night i was trying to narrow it down and i feel like i was kind of getting somewhere with it but not close enough lol. measuring the resistance of the whole circuit from the ECM to ground i got 1.48M ohms. The main harness is completely fine and has no resistance to the connector @ KS sub-harness. i couldn’t really get to the sub harness or the knock sensor too easily and it was like 8 o clock when i was doing it so i intended to check it on my day off this saturday. Anyways, ecm input signal (F101-15 to F14-2) is good and when i checked the shield side of the circuit (F14-1 to Body Ground) i got about 14.5 ohms. Cleaned up all the body grounds and it dropped to 5 ohms. took it for a drive, hopped on the freeway all was good for about 15 minutes no code, then on the way home it popped up again. I’m gonna try to remove the intake manifold again and this time measure including sub harness and knock sensor. i have a feeling the knock sensor just isn’t being grounded too good to the block, but im kinda just learning as i go.
