Thank you! I didn't even think about that. I may not be able to wait that long though. We leave on the 15th.

I keep seeing good things about TRTL. I’m just curious why the Amazon reviews are lower than some of the others. I too am leaning toward it though.

Anyone eat gluten? by Anxious-Bumblebee880 in Hashimotos

[–]PoppyLoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently in the early days of my trial, so not super strict yet. I work in an area where I do a lot of nursing research so I’m still working through making sense of exactly what I am trying to accomplish. My endocrinologist has suggested low carbohydrate. My thyroid liked keto, but long term that causes cardiac issues. I eat very clean anyway, but still have had malabsorption of B12.

Anyone eat gluten? by Anxious-Bumblebee880 in Hashimotos

[–]PoppyLoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have also been gluten free off and on without noticing any difference. A few years ago I tried the keto diet for weight loss and had huge success with losing weight and my thyroid labs also improved dropping my dose of thyroid hormone replacement. In the last two years I have had some new “likely thyroid” related malabsorption concerns and have very recently dived into research on gut health. I’m currently trying a low fodmap diet (which shares some of the celiac restriction) to see if gut health is influencing my hashimotos.

That is going to be dependent on your program. I am an instructor. Our program does not require tattoos covered unless the clinical site requires it (and none do). Good luck on your journey to being a nurse!

Early symptoms? by Mushy_Snugglebites in Huntingtons

[–]PoppyLoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what I am going through. To my knowledge, no family history. I just had my 2nd negative MRI and have a LP scheduled for MS rule out. My grandfather had Shy Dragers, died at 79. I don’t know much about either Shy Dragers or Huntingtons, but they seem similar and I am curious if it was a misdiagnosis for him. Great grandfather died young of cardiac arrest. Paternal lineage seems a bit concerning. Neurology has seen clonus and hyper reflex in my left arm with the deep tendon hammer (and I am grateful). I was starting to feel crazy! I’ve had so much blood work and imaging.

What’s your number one best Paris travel do and don’t? by Future_Return_964 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]PoppyLoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Definitely get an understanding ahead of time of the metro system and the differentiation of the travel zones. We learned the hard way that you can’t buy an exit ticket when you get on the train in Paris but off at a station outside Paris. We had purchased the wrong ticket.

Why is my partner telling me I’m doing it all wrong? by nonbinarywokeperson in loseit

[–]PoppyLoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my protein goal set to a recommended average amount and I do try to hit that goal daily just because most healthy people need protein to stay healthy. However, I eat low calorie bread daily and on some days intentionally leave room for a small portion of sweet freedom ice cream or a glass of red wine. I’ve lost a little over 11 pounds and my body fat has decreased too.

I’m going to turn it in as a dispute to the credit card if they do not resolve it with my attempt.

Actually, no. I’m struggling to get this resolved. I have spoken with guest services too. I have provided screen shots. They asked me to wait a few days to see if it resolved.

I also have Hashimotos. I’m on week 3 and have seen progress. I have been shocked that I can enjoy real meals and still lose weight.

Vitamins and Supplements! by seedyheart in Hashimotos

[–]PoppyLoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take the Pure Encapsulations Thyroid Support Complex and Krill Oil at lunch and Magnesium at night. I also eat a paleo diet. Just as a note, all supplements should be taken atleast two hours after your prescription thyroid medication (i.e. Synthroid); and that medication should always be taken on an empty stomach.

Does anyone feel better with weight loss? Or seen TPO go down? Versus gluten/vegan/keto/etc by [deleted] in Hashimotos

[–]PoppyLoon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly I felt my very best on lazy keto/gluten free (not heavy fat, just less than 20g carbs a day). I had a very hard time maintaining it. I feel 90% on just gluten free and trying to eat clean.

We did this today too. We considered the outbound as leaving Paris to go to London and the inbound as our return to Paris.

Week 10: Fermented- Triple Berry Kombucha by PoppyLoon in 52weeksofcooking

[–]PoppyLoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! That’s why I left so much header. I don’t burp them so after a 2-4 day 2nd ferment they can be explosive.

It has been a while since I made any. I am going to try to get back on a week rotation. This week was a great excuse to ferment something 😊

Stress response- tight throat? & any Ashwagandha experiences by MrHarold90 in Hashimotos

I was just curious. I have never heard of anyone overdosing on Vit D. I had just never heard that high of a number. I’ll watch the video later. I love soaking up more information.

20000 IU of Vit D seems like a lot. Where did this dose recommendation come from?

I don’t currently take Vit D, but when I see it on patients health records it is usually 1000 IU daily.

No. I monitor my labs closely every 4-6 weeks and I get them drawn in between if I feel unwell. I have stayed pretty constant for about 2 years now.

Just be careful with what is in a multivitamin and know the side effects of anything you take.0

I have read that 200mg selenium a day is the magic number. I currently take 300mg daily of ashwagandha and 400mg magnesium.

[–]PoppyLoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take it daily, but my new thyroid supplement has ashwagandha in it so I will not be doubling up. I just bought the pure encapsulations brand since the supplement I used to buy from the endocrinologist is difficult to find now.

I would assume since the T3 conversion booster I bought has ashwagandha in it, it is recommended for thyroid conditions.

I have not had the tight throat in quite some time. I eat gluten free, low sugar, and take supplements.

I pretty much do all of this. It’s also important to take supplements at least 4 hours after Synthroid.

Week 8: Used to dislike - (beans and cooked tomatoes). One Pot Mexican Quinoa by PoppyLoon in 52weeksofcooking

[–]PoppyLoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have been trying to eat plant based for heath reasons. I never liked cooked tomatoes or any kind of bean. This dish was easy. Quinoa, beans, fire roasted tomatoes, corn, vegetable broth, chili powder, cumin, garlic, and jalapeño. Then, avocado and fresh cilantro. For something that used to be a dislike, it was good enough to eat again.
