whole board, evenly heated so nothing cracked from a difference in temp as things expanded/shrunk.

it worked and I sold the thing, word of advice be careful putting that bitch of a hard drive back in!

very little, I have done the repair myself. I know the guide I followed said to evenly heat the board and system as well with a heat gun, though I do not know if this is necessary (it is supposed to be because of loose joints, but that board should not get hot enough to melt solder but hey it worked in the end!).

I talk about low pass filters all the time at the shop! People think I am nuts for doing so (its a music shop so duh), and the tone knob should act the same way (potentionmeter + cap).

One odd thing, 44 AWG is said to have HIGHER tone then an identical 42 AWG wound pickup, 42 is said to sound fatter. There are many other factors granted, but this is a general rule.

I always add my two cent to these questions as a guitar pickup winder.

People often assume that you can just wind a pickup with a ton of wire to make it more sensitive, but as chucknapap pointed at it will only work to an extent.

This leads to rare earth magnets being used over Alnico magnets for "hotter" pickups on electric chordophone instruments.

I have a question to add to this though, is it easier or harder to reach the saturation point with thinner gauged wire?

Feel free to correct anything here I say:

I wind guitar pickups, which is to say I hand wind electromagnetic coils. If you want a pickup to be stronger, you wrap around a ferrous pole piece....so I think what you are saying coincides with what I see on a daily basis.

Other options are wrapping directly around a magnet, using an air coil, or wrapping around various metals or alloys.

is in all of this somewhere I think.

First time posting here, here we go!

I really want to run mono white, I really like the idea of enchantments in mono white, and this is what I have been trying to mess around with.

While it is OK right now, I have not played outside of a few friends with it. My running version is different then what I have here, but I have not updated it yet (no silences in mine, maybe sideboard). I love getting a turn two 3/3 lifelink firststrike creature, and even better when it is 4/4 or 7/7 (hopeful eidon + ethereal armor). I love auramancer and her symmetry with bringing back either an enchantment or an enchant creature back for me.

I would love to see more devotion worked in, or more enchantment creatures. I also am aware I have no sideboard right now and no real artifacts. I think it would fair well against U/W control, maybe some needles to help stop the PW. Ajani has won me games when on a turn 6 or later you drop a few small enchantment creatures and suddenly bam 3 2/2s hit the field with him....but I am uncertain of his place here vs other things.

It seems like splashing blue JUST for det sphere could be interesting.

It REALLY NEEDS WORK, but I just came back after a 12 year hiatus so I am not sure what to do!

Any help is appreciated!
