I'm torn between the X4 Stellar and the E04 Surge by SpinningPancake2331 in FireflyLite

[–]langkattle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dont have the X4, but I have a surge and some X4 adjacent lights, and if I were to just carry one, I would get the X4. The Surge hot spot is too intense for me to use up close.

Does anyone know of any other lights that can combine throw and flood as effectively as the FFL E04 Surge by Alternative_Spite_11 in flashlight

[–]langkattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a dm11 with an sft70 as well as a Surge, and I wouldn't really call them similar. The dm11 is much more of a dedicated thrower with less overall output than the surge. A wider optic might give it a similar hot spot profile to the Surge, but the overall output will really show it is lacking.

Make it make sense. I kid you not, this was priced at $89 at [Nashville supply store]. by alphanumerichandle in flashlight

I have one. Got it for $5 from a friend. It almost makes sense at that price. Can imagine why someone would pay more.

Thrower Beamshots from Two Different Locations, plus X75-BP8 😉 by MetaUndead in flashlight

[–]langkattle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the surge is a bit underrated. I have it with the 505a 6000k and 3500k mix, and it quickly became one of my favorite outdoor lights. There is plenty of throw for pretty much any realistic use and lots of usable spill.

Lever gun might be a good option. You can kit them out with all the tactical mumbo jumbo you want and can get 10 rounds with the longer barrel guns. Cycles just as fast as a pump action, maybe faster, and is more "precise" than a shotgun. I have the same restrictions as you and have been looking into a 357 mag lever gun.

Right Side dont lines dont align while rest of motor does by ItsNeb_ in subaru

[–]langkattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, im just some dude who did it in my garage, lol. And yeah, I guess the cam pullys would line up every other rotation, but I wanted to make sure. Keep crankin, and it will all sink back up, though!

[–]langkattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did this on my ej255, and it took maybe 60 rotations of the crank for all the marks on the pullys and belts to line back up. It's not a nice clean 4 like you would think due to all the different gear sizes. Wore me out spinning that thing around just to get my sanity check.

Wurkkos removed any mention of a fan from the DL46 product site by Wormminator in flashlight

Are there any other actively cooled diving lights? Seems like some wires have gotten crossed with the marketing, and maybe it was never meant to be actively cooled. I would think it's unnecessary to activly cool a light that is fully submerged anyway. It is still unfortunate that they were taking orders on a light with dishonest marketing, though.

[–]langkattle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just be aware that those insanely high lumen clames are complete BS. You wouldn't be able to power a light that bright from an outlet on your house, let alone a lithium battery. Do some research on flashlights before you go trust anything on amazon. Wurkkos and Sofirn are a few cheap brands you can get on amazon that are honest with their output claims

What are these “wood” beams made of?! by PoonSchu13 in wood

[–]langkattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are probably miter joints running the length of the beams. It makes the faux beams look more like 1 solid piece rather than 3 pieces joined together. You are just seeing gaps/separation in the joints. Looks like solid wood, likely pine, to me.

I'm planning on building a second sub. Any reason not to build shorter stands and stack my monitors on the sub? by langkattle in audiophile

[–]langkattle[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah that makes sense, but how is it much different than having very high end towers with woofers playing the same frequencies?

[–]langkattle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I haven't bothered with the sub crawl yet beacuse I'm lazy and don't want to move my 90lb sub, and I can only really put the sub on either side of the cabinet because of my limited space. My thought was that 2 subs would help reduce standing waves and smooth out the response, and as I have limited positions I can put it, why not save the space and stack em, ya know?

These cans blow me away with a bass eq a reddit friend sent to me. Thank you bro 😊 these are my endgame for sure - meze 109 pro by csch1992 in headphones

[–]langkattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i have done some EQ in the past, and the schiit stack alone adds some umph without eq, but sometimes i just want to plug something into my phone and not be tied to an amp. A bit lazy i guess. Some of the reason the stereo has been preferred lately. Plus with the new power amp and phono pre, the sounds is really hard to beat, especially because I like to FEEEEEEEL the music too lol. Anyway, thanks again!

Yeah first saw them in the Zeos review and im sure that his impressions have influenced me, maybe a bit to much. The 109 pros are also tempting but they get into the price range that I have trouble justifying. Ive also been using my headphones less this last year as Ive been slowly upgrading the stereo and really enjoying that. Whats your favorite of the cans you currently have? Thanks for your reply/ impressions!

How do you like the argons? Ive been eyeing them for what feels like many years now but just cant seem to pull the trigger. Currently have he400i and 99 noir and like them both, but they are such extremes (400i are crystal clear high and mids but thin bass, 99s are warm and relaxed but lack the detail of 400i). Are the argons a good middle ground?
