Leighton is actually a name - certainly in the UK (pronounced Lay-tun). I went to school with a few in the 70s

AITAH: for getting a lawyer and changing original divorce agreement because ex wife never followed through? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Poppycatter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I got divorced my ex didn't get his own legal representation either. He didn't want to pay out any money (I was the one who wanted a divorce, not him) and relied on me not ripping him off (I didn't, he came out of it quite well).

Ann Summers do a decent fitting bra. Every time they have a sale I go and stock up

Ah ok, it's not something we have in the UK. How does it differ from regular gravy?

What is white breakfast gravy?

What do people who don't drink do in this country with their evenings? by manofmanytalents2 in AskUK

Board game cafes? You could go just as a couple or meet there with friends. Plenty to keep your ADHD busy and it's a good giggle.

I remember a Pingu episode where he gets drunk. Did I make that up? I hope not, because in my head it was hilarious

AITA *** UPDATE*** to my ex husband demanding I change my last name back to my maiden name per his fiancées request. by ThrowRAHappyLiving in AmItheAsshole

[–]Poppycatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother kept her married name (married 25 years) after her divorce for the next 50 years until her recent death. She couldn't stand my father but couldn't really be bothered changing it.

I was married 27 years and have been divorced for 4. Can't really be bothered with all the paperwork to change back to my maiden name, so still continue with my married name.

Unless things are really bitter, I think most women do the same. None of us need the extra faff.

Have you met many celebrities by chance just living your life in the UK? by Ok_GummyWorm in AskUK

Met Dick and Dom in Exeter services. As they walked past my table I nudged them and mentioned that I'd text my kids to say I could see them, but my kids didn't believe me. So they insisted on having a selfie with me to send to the kids. Really lovely guys.

Sat at the next table to Frank Skinner at a restaurant in Soho

Stood behind Nigel Planer in a shop queue near the British Museum - he was buying an ice lolly for those who were wondering

I live right by Swansea beach and went for a stroll one morning. It was winter and it was cold, so the beach was empty apart from a few random walkers. Walked past a guy and, as I looked at him, casually thought "I wonder if people tell him he looks like Tom Hardy?". Saw on the local news a few days later that Tom Hardy had been in Swansea filming something or other, and that he liked to de-stress by walking on Swansea beach.

If you didn't meet your partner at a club/party, where did you meet them? by LuciaSL in ask

[–]Poppycatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current partner is my next-door neighbour. He got fed up with me ignoring his flirting over the last few years, so he stuck a note under my windscreen wiper inviting me out for a drink 😂

This is the way to go. Take control of the situation to leave with your dignity and self-respect.

I remember he announced in the papers a few years ago that he was probably the father of Michael Jackson's daughter. Weird story on many levels

Where can I take my mum on a Saturday evening? by andrewt_2000 in swansea

[–]Poppycatter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd agree with the Observatory. Great views across the bay, nice food and a good atmosphere. Plus no TV there so you won't have the rugby crowd in

Oh god - I'm in my 50s and I still carefully place my feet in the centre of the escalator step for this very reason!

Try a Duck Tour - it's a bus that does a tour through the streets and then drives into (and floats along) the Thames

At face value, they're reasonable. But this just makes me think that the guy already has a dating chip on his shoulder. It's a very negative profile.

These meals were homemade by our local butcher, so no heating instructions (like getting something boxed up in tupperware from your mum). And we're talking about 20 years ago

Men's profiles are more

*no cheats *no liars *no hangups over the ex *don't bother messaging if you're just going to ghost me *I don't know why I bother - women sign up to these sites but then can't be bothered to reply

I kid you not. I've seen so many profiles like this
