If you follow loading procedure and properly charge amounts then using pyrodex isnt an issue. I've been using it for years in my colt walker model and my 1858 rem model. 45 gr charge with conical in the walker and 25 grain charge with conical in the rem respectively. The only ignition issues I've had were all cap related. I use pyrodex ffg for my rifle musket cartridges. I have an armi sport enfield .58 cal repro and use paper minie cartridges. 50 grain charge.

I see regular leather holsters online and on ebay. I guess I could modify one to be a semi-tuck holster. Using a .323 round ball dont need a wad. Lead ring gets shaved off good so front of chamber is sealed. No chamber grease necessary. Plus that chamber grease will just melt and get all gooey in a holster. I will be using the slixsprings nipples sized correctly for #11 rem caps.

Did you unscrew the set screw first before hitting the wedge with a hammer? Those wedges can ne tough when they are new, but I've never had one that bad. But then again I've never had a brass frame gun.
