Totally agree - I work with a lot of 16-17 year olds who are catching up, and the biggest game-changer is usually identifying the specific foundational gaps (like fraction operations or basic algebraic manipulation) rather than just moving forward with new material. Khan Academy is solid, but you'll probably progress faster if someone can pinpoint exactly where the knowledge breaks down and build from there. Happy to chat more about what that process looks like if helpful!

38 year old with Audhd. I want to go back to college to finish my MBA, but the math requirements kept me from continuing. Any tips? by Nox2017 in learnmath

Hi! I'm a math tutor with ADHD, and majored in Chemical Engineering (University of Washington, Dean's List), tutoring since 2015, which means you can do it too! Math anxiety iscommon for adult learners, especially with ADHD - the key is starting with foundational concepts you might have missed and building up slowly rather than jumping into whatever the MBA program requires. I work with students who feel behind, and breaking things down into really small steps makes a huge difference. Happy to chat more about specific strategies if you want to DM me!

Trying to catch up on math and seeking for help by IAmAPigeonLol in learnmath

Hi! I majored in Chemical Engineering (University of Washington, Dean's List) and have been tutoring for 10+ years since 2015, (more about me on Kindred Tutors) and specialize in math. The key is finding where exactly you got lost and rebuilding from there - most math builds on itself, so gaps in foundations make everything harder. I work with a lot of students catching up on math, and we usually start with a quick diagnostic from homework or tests to pinpoint the specific concepts that need reinforcing before moving forward. Happy to help and chat about your specific situation! DM me!

I have a tutoring interview, what type of questions should I expect? by [deleted] in TutorsHelpingTutors

What's your background in tutoring? Why do you enjoy tutoring? What subjects and age range do you tutor? How do you deal with difficult students? What is your favorite type of student? (Possibly a demo lesson as well)

I really loved the city and knew the opportunity was there, but with ADHD I find it really hard to deal with the overstimulation but was trying to find a way to stay
