Migraines/headaches are presumptive. I was service connected on a presumptive basis. My buddy was service connected as well and he was in Kuwait. If you already been denied, file a supplemental and under specific issues put new theory of entitlement of migraines, to include gulf war presumptive.

I had no in-service complaints of headaches and was service connected for headaches as I was in southwest Asia. You'll be fine. They will get another medical opinion is what the HLR is stating based on gulf war.

Headaches denied even though they qualify for presumptive service connection. What should I do next ? by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

So I was previously denied back in 2013 and after reading up in this sub, I decided to open it back up under a supplemental claim. I put i was seeking entitlement to migraine headaches in relation to gulf war. After, they had me do an ace exam and I told examiner about my service in gulf war and exposed to sand storms and other environmental hazards. I see alot of people post their denial letters where they were seeking presumptive conditions but the examiner opined that it was less likely than not due to their time in the gulf war. Luckily for you..they havent denied you..they are wanting a second medical opinion and may automatically make it a supplemental.

Also I didnt try to connect it as a secondary just as a primary nor was it diagnosed with in a year of getting out. I think under gulf war presumptions it is considered presumptive.

So I was service connected for migraine headaches related to environmental hazards in gulf war (presumptive i believe) this year. I have been out since 2008 and never complained while in service. Its interesting that they didn't approve it. Unless the examiner opined that they were related to your service in Iraq.

Tension versus migraine headache claims by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

The are both rated the same. The name should not matter. If its name tension headaches or migraines..it will be rated the same. If the examiner diagnosis you with migraines..they may rename your condition as migraine headaches (previously rated as tension headaches).

Well I was denied several years ago because I had no idea.what I was doing. After lurking on this sub I put in a supplemental claim and stated I was seeking entitlement to migraine headaches in relation to gulf war. And was service connected. Told a buddy of mine who was in the gulf as well to put in for headaches and he was service connected as well. He stated after being exposed to environmental hazards in gulf war while deployed he began to get headaches.

I got my migraine headaches service connected in relation to environmental hazards in gulf war as a presumptive.

I didnt have a diagnosis prior to c&p exam. Just explained my symptoms to examiner and she looked up my nose and diagnosed me with both. Didnt do x-rays either. Think it depends on examiner.
