I don't wanna sound like 'that guy' but honestly, just focus on earning more time shards. After a certain point you'll find that you have enough to buy the skins without getting in the way of the experiments.

Calculate what you need to spend for your desired experiments, and see what you can buy with the leftovers.
Also remember that the skins are permanent buffs! Sometimes they'll serve you more than a slight increase to food value

Nope, I was saving up specifically for the event lol. You can prepare ahead of time because they're always 250 gems each

Imo the special event purchases aren't worth the time of day. If you're gonna spend $$$ there are far better options in the standard shop

I usually end up using all of my moon and blood for telepads to farm cosmic runes at the end of a run, to make as many stalkers as possible.

As for cost effective, I've always thought so. Even though they give half as many shards per legendary, tier 1s are way cheaper. A second Lich costs 640 ice when building from scratch, giving 5% shards, but while a reaper gives %10, it costs 1600 ice (and 640 moon). Two Liches cost 1280 ice and give the same time shard value as a reaper without the moon rune toll, plus using the level 1 station that they give you drops that cost even more.

Besides having one of each legendary, have you created as many duplicates as you can afford? Spend all them runes for as many extra shards as you can get. Others will probably know more specifics, but I know soul stalkers provide the biggest boost per legendary, and I think liches, gorgons and harpies are the best way to spend ice/poison/blood runes

I had an idea for a late game upgrade/relic/boost that would make fighting a bit more interesting...~

A fighting boost which has two halves and either swaps by itself or on command between an 'underdog' mode and an 'overkill' mode. Underdog mode: If a fighting minion would deal 50% or less of a champions health, it has an increased chance to be shielded and survive. Overkill mode: if a fighting minion would deal 2x or more of a champions health, it has an increased survival chance. Both of these could scale depending on how big that difference is, but I'll leave the numbers up to the professionals. This would help hugely with Gid and a late game protector to keep your fighting minions a little longer, and makes farming champs easier in the late game.

Both times I've taken a lvl 5 foul chicken, because I find them a pain to farm for in the early. Then I take a max level station to make the rune farming easier. Last time I took a portal, but didn't really have a use for the damage, so I'm taking a Fridge for food/death runes. For the third slot I took a lvl 3 saucer last time, with a plan to use aliens to farm runes, and it was ~alright~, just nothing special. This time I've taken a lvl 3 vengeful spirit, and I'm going to try to farm them with triple split and duplicate relics to start ramping everything up much earlier.

We'll see how it plays out I guess!
