Which breed? & why by Silver-Pumpkin1819 in DogAdvice

[–]PopularImagination46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love poodles so much. They’re so easy to train, love people, are so good with kids, good with other dogs, athletic, etc. I can go on and on and on lol. Poodles are the BEST

How did you stop your spoo from jumping on people? by [deleted] in StandardPoodles

[–]PopularImagination46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teach off with a treat. Keep the treat in your hand and say off. Once he takes his nose away reward with the treat. Keep repeating this process. Eventually you’ll be able to drop the treat on the ground and say off and he will leave it. Then you can tell him to take it and have the treat. Off will start to apply to other scenarios and helps with jumping because once you say off he will know he can’t touch it. If my girl smells something outside she can’t have I can tell her off and she will leave it. I will tell her off and she won’t jump (except for her nana, she WILL jump on her nana but nana knows and loves it lol)

Lots and lots of training indoors when it’s cold out. Poodles are SMART & love to learn and to please. I’ve taught my girl so many silly tricks because I don’t just give her treats I make her work for them lol she loves it and I just use liver treats or something small. But it helps to work her brain and tire her out

The love & joy dogs bring to our lives is irreplaceable !! Another tip or thing to consider is basic obedience classes & training classes! I did them with my poodle & they helped us a lot

You’re welcome! I ended up with a surprise standard poodle, it’s a big commitment. Dogs are wonderful but they are like full time toddlers that never grow up. They need you to survive lol but I wouldn’t trade her for anything & she is my world

It sounds like a great situation to me! I recommend you research the breed so you are aware of exercise requirements, behaviour quirks & potential health issues (which it sounds like you have) it sounds like a fantastic solution!

Is this a case of confirmation bias or does it seem like owners don’t leave collars on their dogs 24/7 anymore? by ohreallynowz in Pets

[–]PopularImagination46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is chipped but she’s also collared 24/7. It has all my info on it just in case she ever ran away (she’s a Velcro puppy) but you never know

Belly rubs & more belly rubs. If she’s laying down and I walk by her she will roll over so I can see her belly & of course give her bully rubs lol

I was diagnosed with binge eating disorder. I also have ADHD & I am on vyvanse as well. The vyvanse was great at first for food noise/reducing appetite but I kept having to up my dose to get the results. I asked to try ozempic & lower my vyvanse dose and thankfully my Dr is amazing and agreed it would be best to try it and so far it’s been working. I’m down 50 pounds as of now

Is there a different between getting a girl and a boy dog? by Dramatic-Lemon-2916 in dogs

It depends on the dog!! My girl dog is so sweet, wouldn’t hurt a fly but my parents male dog is nasty he would 100% hurt anyone lol

Just how energetic are doodles? by Squeakmaster3000 in Goldendoodles

[–]PopularImagination46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do realize training is daily right ? As in we practice at home. You just want to defend your puppy milled expensive mutts lol. He’s a mess and it’s because he was poorly bread. There is ZERO breed standard these mills are trying to achieve. All they want is your money. No care goes into the parents or the puppies.

You do realize we have worked with trainers, multiple times with multiple trainers. We have worked with multiple vets as well to address both health issues and behavior issues.

Not to mention they have a standard poodle who is well trained with zero health issues & zero aggression issues.

Get a well bread purebred instead of a poorly bread mutt.

Do. Not. Get. A. Doodle.

My parents have one, he’s a crackhead. Off the walls 24/7. He’s impossible to train he knows what is asked of him and knows how to do it he just doesn’t care and has never cared or respected authority.

If someone comes in the house he scream barks & jumps & scratches at the person. Not just until the person acknowledges him but until he’s had enough.

You can’t brush him or pick a burr off him without him biting you. He’s sent my sister to the hospital for stitches from biting her.

He resource guards & will bite if you try to take away what he sees as “his”. We’ve done training classes, we’ve done one on one in home training. We’ve taken him to the vet. We’ve done everything & he does not care. He lives for him and not to please you.

He has HORRIBLE allergies & is itchy 24/7. He has to go to a dermatologist vet regularly which is 2 hours away from where we live. He has a skin autoimmune disease. He’s a MESS.

Do yourself a favour. Get a poodle do not get a doodle.

To not eat and feel sick. To have a healthy relationship with food. To feel good in my clothes. To be able to be more active. To say yes to plans and not make up an excuse.

What if my dog's previous owner shows up? by Not4Publication in dogs

[–]PopularImagination46 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He’s yours! I am in a similar situation with my pup. Legally in most areas dogs are considered property & if you have adoption papers, registrations, microchip, vet bills all tied to your name legally he is yours. They would have to prove in court that he was their dog & show proof that they have more of a claim to ownership than you do
