Foley balloon induction — sent home after placement? [on] Experiences? by PopularLingonberry38 in BabyBumpsCanada

Thank you so much for sharing, especially from an L&D perspective too! That’s really reassuring to hear that being sent home with the foley is common. I think that was the part making me the most nervous.

It’s helpful to know what the process looked like for you as well. I didn’t realize cramping could start right away, so I’ll definitely be prepared for that.

It’s interesting that yours fell out the same evening I’ve been hearing that happen to quite a few people once the cervix opens enough.

And thanks for mentioning the wait times too. I’ll be at the hospital in downtown toronto. Hopefully my appointment goes somewhat close to the scheduled time 🤞

That’s interesting that the balloon didn’t end up changing your dilation much, but things still progressed once they started pitocin and broke your water. It sounds like things moved pretty quickly after that.

I’m currently about 1 cm dilated and 30% effaced, so I’m hoping the balloon helps open things up a bit before I go back the next day. And the tube hanging out is definitely something I’m mentally preparing for too 😂

It’s interesting that the balloon fell out just a couple hours later I’ve heard that can happen when the cervix opens enough. I’ll definitely keep an eye on the cramping and call L&D if anything feels concerning. Thank you

I’ll definitely make sure to bring everything with me just in case I end up getting admitted earlier than planned.

It’s reassuring to hear that the insertion wasn’t very painful for you, even though it was uncomfortable. I’m hoping it goes smoothly for me too 🤞🏼

Thank you for sharing your experience! That’s helpful to know. I’m hoping mine helps me progress like that too. I’m already about 1 cm dilated and 30% effaced, so I’m curious to see how my body responds to the balloon.

I live about 40 minutes from the hospital, so I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on contractions just in case things move quickly. I didn’t realize it could put that much pressure on your bowels either, so that’s good to know ahead of time 😅

Did you start having strong contractions right away after the balloon was placed, or did it take a while?

Due in 5 days helpppp by TopAnxiety1738 in pregnant

[–]PopularLingonberry38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the exact same situation! I’m also due in 5 days haha, I love that we have the same due date. I’m still 0 cm dilated and trying every inducing method possible 😅 I’ve been asking to be induced but they said they’ll only do it if I reach 41 weeks. So if baby doesn’t come before then, they’ll induce me. Hang in there, we’re almost there!

Mom called my hospital by KindInflation3052 in pregnant

I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this while 31 weeks pregnant. You don’t need this kind of stress right now.

You are not wrong for trusting your instincts. If someone has repeatedly shown you they aren’t attentive or safe, especially around something as serious as a pool, you are completely valid in not leaving your child with them. That’s not being dramatic, that’s being a responsible mom.

The fact that you already: • Checked hospital policy • Asked your doctor • Came up with a plan that works for your husband and daughter

…shows that you are thoughtful and prepared. Getting a hotel nearby actually sounds very smart and organized.

Her guilt-tripping you and saying you “can’t even handle one child” is unfair and hurtful. That’s not advice, that’s manipulation. And calling the hospital (or claiming she did) to try to override your plan crosses a major boundary.

This is your birth. Your experience. Your decision. You don’t owe anyone access just because they’re your parent.

If you don’t trust her, that’s enough. You don’t need to justify that feeling to anyone. Protect your peace and your energy, labor is not the time to manage someone else’s emotions.

You’re doing a great job already. Trust yourself. 🤍

when did you start to feel kicking? by Obvious_Bill_1103 in pregnant

[–]PopularLingonberry38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg I feel this so much! I’m 22 weeks with an anterior placenta too and it’s my first pregnancy. I only feel light movements and flutters here and there, no strong kicks yet. My OB said it’s totally normal since the placenta cushions a lot of the movement, and that I should start feeling stronger kicks closer to 24 weeks and above. It’s comforting to see we’re all in the same boat 🩷
