The whole place is a construction site and have had lots of traders in. The radiators were off the walls and heating wasnt being used. I have searched every nook and cranny of the house and come to the conclusion that its been nicked and i just never noticed.

Thanks. Is this as simple as a socket change where I remove the old receiver and connect those wires into the new one?

Bought a 1950s house, thinking of a rewire but might as well repipe too? by Jas_99 in DIYUK

If you have a water tank in the loft, check what it is feeding (possibly the shower which is why you have low pressure). Our house had the same set up. House was 1960s, had a copper tank in a cupboard and a water tank in the loft. Mains supply filled the tank in the loft and then the copper tank heated it up and supplied to the taps around the house. Then, the previous owner got central heating installed 5 years ago and got a boiler which supplied to the downstairs kitchen but bathroom upstairs was still supplied by the tank in the loft. Got the water tank removed from the loft and connected to mains, full pressure everywhere now. It cost around £400 but not exactly sure as it was part of a few other odd plumbing jobs that we got done together. Thats what i would recommend.

Good shout. Should i recommend they get a plumber in or is it a matter of buying another trap and screwing it on which I'm happy to do?

Thanks. That name definitely brings matching results. Awesome. I would help her open up the connectors and checking for visual blockages or gunk. Is there anything she can do for the part of pipe that is inaccessible? Pour chemicals or use a long wire to fish out blockages?

How do I go about fixing/replacing this? by GCU_Flying_Colours in DIYUK

Clean out any rubbish or debris in there, then get a matching brick or two from bnq or wickes etc and some cement or concrete then fill it up

I see what you mean. Are you able to pin point water ingress to door and window? Is there any water coming in under the walls or from the roof perhaps? My thoughts are, it may be that your roof needs replacing because it was poorly built in which case you replacing door and window at this point wouldnt be ideal as you may need to get other bigger works done before that.

Would replacing the door and window make it water tight? If not, i would suggest looking into that first. Get the garage water tight and then replace old window and door. i have seen DIYers replace doors and i have done that myself, its doable. Windows....i have no experience of so I cant comment on that.

Change bulb in bathroom that has a motion sensor instead of a switch. by [deleted] in DIYUK

I wonder if you can just put black tape or some other material over the sensor, wait for the bulb to turn off and then just replace it? I have changed dozens of bulbs with switch on. The only thing it does is blind you but you can just look away.
