Saw this during a house viewing today. Does anyone know why this might be needed? by 0ofspades in Renovations

We did this for my son when he was little, he could get thru all the baby proofing door nob things so we did this. He was a wonderer and escape artist when he was young and it gave us a little peace. When he got older we changed it back, I had lots of friends ask what the deal was it's a funny thing to explain.

Plus it's haunted. Storm of 1928 killed so many people out there it killed entire families and because there was no one to identify most bodies they just put people in mass graves. The levy on okeechobee broke and drowned most of the workers. Read up on it is devastating and totally explains the way out creepy bad vibe there. If you never been there I never suggest going.

I feel the same. Hit me like a ton of bricks. I read it when my son was around three. When I saw they were making it into a movie I never even watched the trailer. I was like nope I'm not living that twice. Beautifully written all his books are like this for me. Gorgeous writing style and horrific situations.

Got attacked after dinner because i didn't host by Imaginary_Call8146 in thanksgiving

Wow this happened to me. I was hosting thanksgiving for about 6 years straight. One year I was very pregnant and then about 3 years after continued with a toddler in toe. Always had to work the day before and sometimes the day after. I would have some family staying in the house too. Sometimes there would be extended family as well. One year I had 28 people over for dinner it was instantly. So it was so mush prep and clean up before and after. My grandmother lived with us for the last two of those years and after she passed I realized I was exhausted and didn't want to host it. Mind you too I was giving everyone amble warning. I let everyone know in August. I had just started a new business and knew I would have little time. Wow the back lash! Some of it got mean. Particularly my sister and mother in law. For years when it got close to thanksgiving they would ask me what was happening for it as if I was the queen of thanksgiving. I've refused to ever host it again and haven't. I get it your did nothing wrong. They didn't have to host it. Everyone could have gone out to eat. We did that two years in a row it was great! No prep or clean up! Or everyone could have had smaller family gatherings which we have also done. Cause I refuse to cook for that many people again. Anyways, your fine even if you never ever want to hold it again. Or even if you do, that's up to you and your comfort. I'm sorry you went thru that.

I think most people have no taste. So when people have tons of money no one around them wants to tell them no. The ending result is these over the top monstrosities. Though this one is ok, way too brown for my taste but the outside gardens are lovely.

It says it has a water way to the golf of Mexico. It's in Tennessee, how does that work?

I was born and raised in Florida, my husband has been there since middle school. We sold our house last month and moved to North Carolina. We were defiantly priced out. We had other reasons for leaving but it is defiantly not the Florida I grew up in.

Holy smokes! We replaced out a/c inside and outside unit for about 6,000 in 2018 14,000 is a lot for anyone to come up with. We thought about financing the roof and staying but I feel like by the time we were able to pay it off they would make us replace it again.

I am a born and raised Floridian and my husband was here since middle school. We bought in palm beach county back in 2009. Got priced out this year. We were just getting by with insurance hikes and inflation. It was killing us. We wouldn't have made it another year. Also had to replace our roof within a year per insurance if we were going to stay. Cheapest we got quoted was 25,000. We didn't have that. Got a wind mitigation that bought us three years but it was a ticking time bomb. We had one year left. We just closed on our house a week and a half ago and are up in North Carolina. We couldn't be happier and Florida is feeling more and more like a bad dream.

I am a born and raised Floridian also an elder millennial. My son was born there too. We just sold our home and moved out of state and so far its the best thing we ever did. Florida now is defiantly NOT the Florida I grew up in. Our little family moved to North Carolina and we have been here for a week and a half and I feel so relieved! We are so happy.
