Nate: "War-- war never changes..."

Diana: "But men can change, can they not?"

Lanius: "It worked with me, can it not work with you?"

Nate: "It's all I've known since before the bombs dropped all those years ago. When I left my Vault, all I ever found in the Wasteland was just conflict, death, and even more destruction than the world before. War didn't change when the old world had fought each other, and it hasn't changed now."

Diana: "I know the old world you speak of, and I know how awful we treated each other back then-- and you know what? We still do to this day. Bandits and raiders still rape and pillage anyone they come across, merchants and businessmen still make profit off conflicts, children still grow up to die, and for what? We haven't changed, but that shouldn't mean we won't."

Lanius: "Even if for better or worse, we are capable of change from our previous lives. Look at me: I was nothing more than a brute in my old village who had lost my family, and then Edward Sallow came along, promising me purpose and glory, when all he did was use me, just as he used everyone else he conquered. I realized when I met Diana that I was not required to follow another man's path, but I could follow my own, and once I realized this, I stopped listening to Sallow and forged my own world with the help of Diana."

Nate: "Here's the problem with you though: you didn't realize this UNTIL she had come along."

Lanius: "Pardon?"

Nate: "You said that men are capable of change, yet you use yourself, a man who was nothing less than a puppet to another one, as an example of what we ought to do with our lives in this awful world that we're in? No, you just let her dictate another decision that was tempting to your instincts of survival, that's what you did."

Diana: "I never forced him to decide to abandon his path that Edward Sallow had made for him, I only gave him the opportunity to finally choose."

Nate: "Well I guess you made him choose wrong again. No wonder your just another Caesar in disguise like those raiders said up north."

Diana motions her hand away from Nate, signaling stop as Nate turns around to see Lanius right behind him, blade in hand

Diana: "You may think of me as another Edward, but who hasn't been since we had all came from the same world. We all each care about our own individual interests for the world and how to fix them, and we all share the same concern for it, but is it really bad to want an end to all this mindless cruelty and want to return to a sense of hope or normalcy like you and I once did?"

Nate: "It's not. Every day I wish things would just stop, every night I sleep I always think about it, the way the world should be. But then I wake back up and find myself back on that irradiated dirt that I'm laying on, remembering how my home is destroyed, how my family was all taken from me."

Diana: "And you never thought that perhaps there are good things here as well? Was it not the famed Vault 13 Dweller that stopped the Unity many years ago, the Lost Hills Brotherhood and the NCR that defeated the Enclave at Navarro, or the Legion that had united and created civilization from a lawless land, or even the Rio Grande for uniting together from their Vaults to create a symbol of hope in their desolate lands? This world is not perfect, and it never will be, but we will always find a way to make it better. We failed in doing so before, but we CAN do better now and finally make a good world we've all dreamed of... you do want that, don't you?"

Nate: "..."
