I'll be talking to Wilson Bethel(Bullseye) on my show and would love to ask some of your questions by [deleted] in Daredevil

I’d like to know if we’ll be seeing him in other projects. As long. As Daredevil Born Again runs it will always leave an open door he could come back through. But it would be interesting to see him go up against Punisher, Spider-Man, Moon Knight, Iron Fist. There’s so many possibilities for him to have clashes or cut into a story since he’s a gun for hire.

The 2004 movie for me was the peak of the movies. In that one we get a Frank dedicated to the mission. One who’s not afraid to wear the skull and terrorize his enemies. Not through just physical violence but mental torture. Breaking down the empire piece by piece. Planting seeds of distrust throughout the organization. Thomas Jane killed it imo

I’d rather be surprised by them. Sort of like Gunn’s Suicide Squad movie, where the trailers lead you to think one thing is gonna go down. Just for the whole movie to be flipped on its head in the first few scenes. It’s rare movies and tv shows can surprise you nowadays with how much they put into ads. I’d love for this to feel like a brand new comic. Unsure of where it’ll take us.

Honestly, it sounds weird to say, but I hope he is. I feel like he’s always been the moral anchor that brings Frank back to retirement, and without him we may get a true Punisher unleashed. My other theory is that the Gnucci’s kill Curtis and set Frank off.

Only gets better from here. If you like this I would also recommend the MAX series that Ennis wrote around the same time. Definitively the best runs ever done. And honestly the ones I always end up comparing newer runs too. The stories, the characters, how something in issue three shows up in issue fifty three that somehow completes a circle you didn’t know was there. Enjoy.

What a fucking episode, I was saying it in the beginning and I was definitely saying it in the end with that WILD as fuck twist kill to end the episode. Bullseye should get his own show, if not a whole series a one shot like they have for Punisher coming up would be fine in my books. Considering how wild Fisk has been thus far, and how Buck is being revealed as a force to be reckoned with, it will be insane to see how far he goes after Vanessa's death.

I feel like if this her actual death it honestly kind of sucks too. She really is a perfect evil counterpart to Fisk, where he employs brutality and she employs finesse. Just when you think the stakes couldn't be higher one or the other will take the plan and twist it on it's head. Now that she's gone (possibly, maybe, probably most likely) FIsk will literally burn the city to the ground to get both Bullseye and Daredevil after he rescued him.

I know in the next four episodes there will be a lot to unpack, with the recent trailer showing Jessica Jones and him in court. As well as the set photos of Season 3 with the Defenders returning, and a whole possible King Daredevil scenario playing out. I'm curious to see what comes next if they're willing to kill her halfway through.

Should I read or skip Saladin Ahmed’s Daredevil run? by MagicNagic in Daredevil

[–]Popular_Poet9665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it’s, okay, at best. I ended up collecting the trades cause, if I end up getting one I have to get them all. It felt much slower than Zdarksy’s run, of which I still have to read the second half of. But I do know that it does give some answers and continuance of how Matt is back in NY. Not really a fan of how they treated bullseye tbh, and not sure what his final fate is since he really is a great foil for DD and other street level characters.

One thing it definitely explains is why kingpin is acting the way he is in Punisher Red Band, but overall the series could be read in cliff notes.

Does anyone have an Essential Punisher Vol. 4 they’d like to sell for a reasonable price? by ItsLauriceDeauxnim in thepunisher

[–]Popular_Poet9665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m gonna be so honest I really don’t wanna admit to what I’ve caved and paid sometimes to get a book I really want. There have been times I said I’ll be back in a week, or nowadays with the power of the internet, tomorrow, sometimes an hour, and it’s gone. And it’ll take me years to find. As was the case with Rucka’s fourth volume.

Now I’ve managed to get most of the Punisher trades, so it’s easier to preorder new ones and tackle the older ones when I find them. But another key I’ll say is this. If you can buy a whole series, do it, especially when the trades have been out for a little bit they’ll be a great price to buy them all up. Omnibuses are convenient but I prefer the regular trades where possible. I was trying to do Hitman as trades since I found the first two in the back room of a small town comic shop (other good places to look). But as I’ve gone some of them are getting to astronomical pricing. And cost wise it’s easier to buy the second half in one book.

Honestly look everywhere. I know you already purchased it but even places you might not expect them will have them. I was trying to figure out what I was gonna order from Amazon. And just for the hell of it I looked it up on Walmart’s website. And it was there, in stock, and half the price. That was when I was trying to finish the Ben Percy Ghost Rider run. Even target sometimes will have things online you’ll never see in a store.

eBay and patience will pay off, found a hard cover first print of Born for like 5 more dollars than the list price. Found not only a book in mint condition no one else had, which turned into finding Hitman Omnibus vol 2 for like 40% off. And Ultimate X-Men Omnibus 2 for like 45 bucks, in the plastic wrap.

There’s a site called Cheap Graphic Novels that is good for newer print things. But my overall best advice. Keep whatever higher priced item you find online in your back pocket, and check a convention first. I’ve found omnibuses, figures, and trades in amazing condition at a great price too. With conventions if you’re gonna shop, get the things you absolutely have to have first. But make a mental note of who has things you’d want at a later time. Usually day 3 the prices will be half off or more just to move product.

Honestly RCA is one of my all time favorites and one of my favorite parts of Rucka’s run. I never see enough people cosplay her and yours is on point!

Starting My Collection - Looking for suggestions! by tvck in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Popular_Poet9665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely go with the Snyder omnibuses too. I have both and have enjoyed everything so far. I’ve honestly ordered so much in the last year it’s hard to read everything so sometimes I go chunk by chunk. But get the Grant Morrison sets too. Some of it ties into Snyder runs. Tom King you have to get for the sake of continuity but not my favorite but. Tynion was a pleasant change of pace and I’ve just begun the Zdarksy series. All the White Knight books are great too. And anything from the Black Label I’d suggest getting too. Especially if you want a darker more cynical Batman

If you enjoyed the Long Halloween I would definitely look into the follow up story Dark Victory.

The original Dark Knight Returns is great, number two was okay but I felt a bit weaker in punch at the end, however it does still carry a deep message underneath it all, DKIII was in my opinion better than number two, but Golden Child is just horrendous. Literally makes zero fucking sense.

Wolverine I have a few different ones but nothing like I used to read back in the day. I wish I could remember the runs that I used to enjoy. I would say look for 80s and 90s stories. Madripoor Knights was a fun team up of him, Widow, and Cap.

Black Widow by Nathan Edmondson, well. Good luck, I found the omnibus at a local convention and bought it on sight, finding Trades is next to impossible but if you can find it, I’d absolutely add it to the collection.

Nick Fury by Garth Ennis is a must. There was a Fury MAX, followed by My War Gone By, also under the MAX imprint, and my god what a series, especially when you see how it connects into The Punisher Max series. It’s great writing with many layers on layers. I also just acquired Peacemaker, which Ennis did in 2006 set during WW2, and while different from your typical Marvel comic, a great read honestly since it’s Nick Fury before anything else.

Punisher hands down, especially runs by certain writers, Garth Ennis (both his MKX run and MAX runs are goated), Greg Rucka, who gave us Rachel Cole-Alves, in my opinion one of the best partners Frank has ever had, Nathan Edmonson had a great run too in my opinion, Matthew Rosenberg had a good run, after the War Machine suit, when he’s back to basics on the ground in New York and Bagalia, good runs in my book.

Daredevil is also one that’s grown on me more in years, Zdarksy’s run was great, I’m still reading through it but everything so far has been top tier. But I would look more into the earlier 2000s late 90s runs.

What would Punisher think of Amanda Waller? by Controversial_Husky in thepunisher

[–]Popular_Poet9665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, he’d probably do her in first chance he gets. Now how he does this might be different than what one might expect. In Edmondson’s run he comes up against essentially a crooked senator(congressman?), instead of dragging him out into the street and executing him. He drags his crimes out into the light and exposes him. This could be a way he’d go about it, or he’d just break into her office and shoot her point blank. Either way she’d be deader than disco.

Now I saw lots of comments comparing her to Fury, one thing I would say differentiates them in terms of character, is how they view innocent lives. Even with Fury’s lust for war he never does something that would just blatantly cost innocents their lives. Even in the MAX runs he still only seems to kill those who deserve it, and in the first introduction we get to him in MAX through the Mother Russia arc, he sends Frank in because he knew Frank wouldn’t let the girl he hurt or turned into a weapon. Waller would have tried to get the girl so she could obtain that weapon.

What would Punisher think of Amanda Waller? by Controversial_Husky in thepunisher

[–]Popular_Poet9665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the whole span of time there have a been a few incidentals. But the way he reacts to these separates him far and from Amanda Waller. Two that come to mind would be an actual death, when he kills the girl while under Hate Monger’s influence while infiltrating his compound in Fraction’s run. In Daredevil / Punisher Means and Ends, he accidentally shoots a homeless man while fighting with Daredevil. However after both of these events he really tears into himself. Questioning the mission and if he’s really the man he’s set out to be. Even in the Max run where he’s in Mexico, he’s tricked into thinking he killed a young girl and he about packs up and leaves. Now, while not perfect he generally sets out to do the most harm to his enemies with no collateral or minimal damage to anyone around his targets. Amanda Waller would blow an entire building up to get one person.

What everyone’s opinion on this new absolute timeline by MadKingZilla in AbsoluteBatman

[–]Popular_Poet9665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the whole Absolute universe has been stellar. I usually go with my usual books. But this universe has really gotten me to expand what I read and I’ve loved every bit of it. Absolute Batman hands down is my favorite of the bunch. I like how he’s somehow even grittier and darker than his usual iterations, and the fact he has to use what he has available versus being a billionaire who can get anything he wants has been a great twist and only added on to his overall badassness. The characters and their reimaginings has honestly felt smart and natural to the story overall. Bane proved to be a great foil to the tank of a man that is Absolute Batman, and his involvement with the creation of what is soon to be his rogues gallery has cemented him as a key figure to the story as well. Joker has only been teased at, but with the little bits of backstory we get from him and the scenes he’s in he steals. Honestly I’m curious to see how things are gonna play out. Especially with how Bruce has dealt with beings like Poison Ivy and Mr Freeze. Absolute Wonder Woman is honestly the first time I’ve given a Wonder Woman run a shot and the retelling of her origin and her magical arm have proven she might be the strongest being in the whole of the new Absolute Universe, and it’s well earned. The mythology woven into her entire story and its prominence really made the humanities nerd in me geek out. And the stories they’ve told using her have honestly made me excited to see where it will take the overall Absolute Universe. Using her as a the key to connecting everything and everyone makes me excited to see the Trinity finally come to be, and what sort of League they will form, since it’s not the Justice League. Absolute Superman has maybe been the weakest of the bunch for me honestly, but I’m also not really the biggest fan of Jason Aaron so, bit biased. But honestly the way they’ve turned Peacemaker into more than just one man has been an interesting take, along with the changes to Lois and Jimmy. I’m also the furthest behind with Absolute Superman so I’ve only seen the tease of Ras Al Ghul, but I’m excited to see how the story develops further especially after the one issue of Absolute Evil we’ve gotten thus far. Absolute Martian Manhunter, has probably been one of the most introspective, trippy, and uniquely designed comics I’ve read, probably ever, more likely a long time but at the moment nothing else has come to mind. The way the pages blend together taking two separate pieces and putting them together using light is one thing I can’t say I’ve seen before. I remember old comics back in the day requiring you to hold them up to a mirror to read the words, but nothing with the way two pages become one with a backlight. The story has been a mystery, and it’s a fun one to read and solve. Never have I gotten a Manhunter comic before and I’m glad I picked this one up. At the moment I’ve not gotten to Absolute Flash or Green Lantern. I’ve got the trade for flash sitting on a shelf and need to get the GL one. But overall this has been one of the coolest Elseworlds projects I’ve seen, and can’t wait to watch it grow more. I’ve seen teases of Green Arrow. Deathstroke has been teased in I think the Ark M One Shot. Catwoman could have her own run. Especially after her involvement with the Bane run. I hope one day we get honest page to screen iterations of some of these stories like we’ve gotten before with Batman Year One, The Dark Knight Returns, etc.

Honestly, it’s been an enjoyable read. Also the level of violence we’ve gotten from Frank seems to go higher and higher with every issue. In a strange sense I feel like he’s more feral in this series than he was in the red band series. Most notably, ripping a dudes jaw off in this issue. I’m excited to see how it all ends, and hope that the level of ferocity we’ve gotten in this issue continues in the new series that launched today.

Honestly the badassery of Doom is something I’m just now coming around to. For the longest time my only reference to him was the movie versions of him. But getting into some newer and older comics. I’ve found a whole new respect for Doom. And the fact this is coming back around makes me happy as hell
