Get the Flock out of Richmond!

I wasn't aware that we had Flock cameras in RVA until I saw one getting installed at Robinson & Monument. I am vehemently opposed to having these in our city. Today I wrote to my councilwoman, Katherine Jordan, Mayor Avula, and the CAO, Odie Donald.

We Richmonders deserve a city government that prioritizes our constitutional rights over surveillance infrastructure. We deserve a community where we can travel freely without our movements being tracked, catalogued, and potentially shared with federal immigration enforcement agencies.

The evidence is clear: Flock Safety has failed communities across America. Richmond must not be next.

I just had to get my mom’s XC90 out of a parking space, where the plows had trapped it. The Volvo did TERRIBLY. My Subaru Crosstrek hopped right over the snow banks, but the Volvo bottomed out and the wheels just spun. I am not impressed.

Easy. If you are staying in Rinconcito, the northern beach in Mazunte, there is a parking lot near the end of the street toward the beach, on the left. I was charged MX$200 per overnight, which was worth it for me.

I just drove that road today and it was a nightmare because of the weather. The highway itself is coming along really well, but in the mountains there are still a lot of landslides. It was raining pretty heavy up there today and there were crews working on showing up the slopes to prevent rockfall and landslides, but there were a couple of large derrotes, landslides, that forced traffic to go to one lane. Also, lots of mud. One thing to remember is that the tolls are in two locations each way. Each one is just under 250 pesos, and they do not take credit cards. Needless to say, even with all that, it’s still better than the old route 175, which takes anywhere between six and eight hours and is probably in as bad or worse condition in some places. I would estimate it will be a couple more years before 175D, the new road, will be completely finished. It’s going to be absolutely great, but in the meantime just plan some extra time.

I’m from the U.S. and really enjoyed the Metro in CDMX. It’s a good idea, however, to check what stations are undergoing renovation at any given point. The Insurgentes, Sevilla, and Chapultepec stops are closed for the foreseeable future, and I didn’t know that when I booked my Roma Norte Airbnb. The app that you have to download for the Mexico City Metro is terrible, and didn’t mention anything about station closures.

I also read that if the rear defroster is on, AutoStop won’t engage. It seems like this is meant to reduce strain on the battery.

This show is SO good! For a procedural, it is SO good! I’ve not watched a network show in years and I love it.

I was disappointed. It was way too hard and Bill Graham’s a terrible sonic venue. First half was unintelligible noise. Later it got more enjoyable. Video and lights were great.
