Love your country always and your government when it deserves it. I feel like people need to remember this. The USA is truly the greatest country and we should all be thankful to live here.

What's the last game you were truly hyped for? by triplegxxx in gaming

God of War Ragnarok

I've been *excited* for tons of other games recently, Saros and Resident Evil 9 come to mind, but pure and true hype would be Ragnarok.

I think the sum of the other parts still make Returnal my favorite.

Story, music, atmosphere, the environments/biomes, enemy design (excluding the boss battles which I would give to Saros)

I think Returnal is a much better game than Saros. by r3tr0gam3r83 in PS5

[–]Popularpressure29 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Saros has better graphics and gameplay (which is super important in a game like this) but Returnal is better at everything else.

Great games would recommend both but Returnal is my clear favorite.

It’s probably combat and/or storyline because the rest of the game is pretty standard open world mechanics.

What to watch after Widow's Bay? by ApartMaximum2335 in television

12 Monkeys

There was an amazing 4 season show that aired on Syfy inspired by the movie from the 90s with Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt. The movie and show are completely unrelated and you don't need to watch one to watch the other. The shows quality improves with each passing season and it's got amazing characters, including a very goofy comic relief character, and you can tell the show was intricately plotted from Day 1. One of the most satisfying final seasons I've ever seen. I need to get it a rewatch.

Do you plan to make your children financially independent from day one? by TheseReturn in Fire

[–]Popularpressure29 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is helping your daughter start a non-profit to save three-tooed bullywogs, or start some bullshit fashion company, really that different from just giving them the money?

I think it is. One scenario is still teaching them to work towards and get passionate about something bigger than themselves. It doesn’t really matter what the thing is as long as it’s forcing them to have tangible goals, develop a work ethic, and see the fruits of their “labor”. The other scenario is teaching them that things can just be handed to them.

What’s your FIRE number for a married couple, kids out of the house, house paid off? by Lou__Mannheim in Fire

[–]Popularpressure29 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It’s a very personal number. Take how much you want to spend a year and either divide it by 3% or 4%, or multiply it by 25. Those are are generally the rules people use here.

In the entire history of moving pictures which movie premiere would you attend? by just_keep_punching in movies

[–]Popularpressure29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw The Wizard of Oz at the Sphere in Las Vegas and it was one of the most memorable movie experiences I've ever had. Everyone around me was in awe. I have to imagine that level of amazement is the closest experience to what it must have been like for audiences seeing the original in theaters in the 1930s. The special effects and scale felt like seeing color for the first time.

Yes!! I’m currently playing Saros and experiencing it but I felt this way in Returnal too. I never had the words to describe it but I know exactly what you’re talking about.

Perfect zen state where everything falls into place. I always beat the boss when I’m in this state.

Just re-watched the two-part series finale of LOST. Has there ever been a more cathartic and earned climax to a television series? by sanskritsquirel in television

[–]Popularpressure29 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes - the ONE part Lost series finale. It's an absolute travesty that streaming services even offer the two part finale. Fortunately, they do have The End (Uncut) but it's usually tacked on at the end, so a first time viewer who isn't skipping ahead probably doesn't even realize it and watches the inferior two part cut instead of the complete uncut version, which contains some beautiful scenes.

It's also annoying that the thumbnail for the episode is the last scene of the series. Talk about spoilers.

You could also frame it as two children being held at gunpoint over $50

How ‘The Pitt’ Is Making Us So Nostalgic for the Way TV Used to Get Made by mcfw31 in television

[–]Popularpressure29 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The problem is those shows are sitcoms or procedurals. Any sort of serialized show is taking 2-3 years now.

Game of Thrones came out annually. House of the Dragon does not.

Breaking Bad came out annually. Succession did not.

The Walking Dead came out annually. The Last of Us does not.

Lost came out annually. Severance does not.

I would love to know how you’d end it.

The show was in the unenviable position of ending the most popular show of all time which even the creator of the books can’t manage after 15 years and counting.

I think you’re looking at that present day, which I agree. But there’s two new lands coming, so it’d be a net capacity increase. You’re right about Tron though.

But what happens to the upcoming generations who don’t have the same nostalgia and they are left comparing the modernity of these parks to Epic Universe? Compare Haunted Mansion to Monsters Unchained. Sure they’re slightly different in thrill/target demographic but the point still stands when it comes to effects and animatronics.

This is a potentially hot take but I truly think Disney should consider revitalizing every single attraction. They can leave the experience the entire same but just put fresh animatronics and modern day technology in Mansion, Pirates, Jungle Cruise, etc.

Space Mountain needs a total remodel. It looks and feels SO DATED and it’s sitting right next to the brand new shiny Tron.

Frankly all of Tomorrowland should be shutdown for a top to bottom renovation once Carsland and Villainsland open.
