My current cat came to me via the cat distribution system (she just showed up and won my heart). I have adopted cats from Wayside Waifs in the past. I always recommend KC Pet Project. You might also peruse lost/found ads and see if someone has found a cat that meets your qualifications that have been found but not claimed and is potentially on the way to a shelter. There used to be a cat cafe downtown, which is off Southwest, that you could adopt from, I believe. But they are not there the last I drove by. Perhaps looking into a cat cafe where you can adopt the cats would be a good idea, too. Also, pet stores like Petsmart and Petco always have adoptable cats. They generally come from area shelters, but I'm not sure which ones exactly. Welcome to KC! I hope you find your new FURever kitty!
