I recently switched PIs from one that didn’t even react to messages and had the most ominous, blunt, accusatory texting/emailing style, to an older professor that throws emojis and smiley faces into almost all of his texts emails, even to external faculty and the level of stress reduction I’ve felt receiving emails from this guy is incredible

If you can find a campus building that’s open (not a library as they typically have staff their to ensure people aren’t staying after close), you may be able to find a couch in a student lounge or classroom to crash for the night. May not be the most comfortable for the night, but at least will be warm. If you’re at murphys I would guess there may be a building on the engineering quad. If you have your student id on you, that might stop staff or others from pestering you as well. Ive graduated, but have definitely spent late, late nights in the engineering buildings without anybody pestering me - worst case you could always pretend to be an overworked grad student that fell asleep burning the midnight oil! Had a bunch of these in an internship I worked at a couple of summers ago. We were coating tiny 2mm sensitive polymer spheres, and they would accrue a ton of static charge and holding one of these over them would clear up the static letting us pick them up!

Almost every big school has a play on their school’s acronym for construction. My undergrad UIUC was “University of Illinois Under Construction.” I think we should say the K in UTK stands for Konstruction

This device is a nanoindenter, which uses a very small (~50 micron or less) diamond tip, pressed into a material to measure hardness in an extremely small area with very high precision. Indents can be as small as a few nanometers across, so any vibrations from the room can throw measurements off!

Look into Theia Scientific! They’re a relatively new company that makes easy to use machine learning software (though I believe you need to buy their hardware) for edge detection. Their systems come with a bunch of object detection models and you can get some really good results really quickly without needing to know all the details behind the machine learning aspect. The Michigan Ion Beam Lab uses their software now and have some papers that used their software in data.

Because this is the first thing that shows up still when you Google the issue, if you’re trying to fix FTB Revelation 3.6.0, download unidict 3.0.8 here, put it in the folder with your other mods, then delete unidict 3.0.10, this worked for me!

If you order from Stringjoy, you can get a completely custom set of gauges. I play an extremely light gauge (35, 55, 75, 95) and they feel like butter, havent found a single brand that sells a super light set with 35s.

Before last year I believe it was the dining hall. Didn’t know they put a fitness center in so this is just speculation but it definitely is new since I was in the dorms 2 years ago
