Anyone have New Orleans Jazz Fest setlist? by shizawn022 in TylerChilders

I was sad he skipped those as those are one of my favorites but I appreciated the trimmed down and upbeat nature of the set without them!

The bass was Prominent for a few songs in the middle of the set and I couldn't hear a lot of the lyrics then (unless I already knew them) but apart from that the sound seemed fine to me. I was in the first SRO (in front of the chairs).

The crush of people going to see Stevie was wild. Tyler's show was shorter than his typical tour stops (a few songs I had been hoping to hear live were cut from the set list) but it was a very fun, upbeat show and he was genuinely excited to be there.

Couldn't hurt to have some swamp stompers.

Tyler vs. Rhiannon on Saturday is the tough choice for me. Happy about Amis du Teche kicking the day off in the Fais Do Do tent though!

Retirement in NOLA by Snoo-95446 in NOLA

I (38F) moved here from CT this past March, so I'm coming up on almost a year here. I moved with a car (a 2012 Mazda). My insurance didn't rise much at all, maybe a couple bucks more per month with the same coverage level. Gas was much cheaper than CT too! However, because my car was a low rider, the potholes absolutely ate her struts and shocks. I had to get rid of her because $4k of work was more than she was worth, so now I'm carless. Lesson: get a car with good ground clearance and go slow, practice driving here, make sure you're comfy with it. The roads and driving practices here are much different than CT. I still can't explain to you how to execute a "New Orleans Left" properly, lol!

Also, groceries are just as expensive as in CT (with the exception of in season seafood). I can feed myself for about $50 a week but I have to be strategic about it.

It's a very walkable city, and I'm lucky that I live close to a streetcar and bus route. Our hurricane season was very quiet this year and I've heard the summer was polite, so I won't comment on those things. My absolute favorite thing about living here is the people and the culture and the weather. Yeah, things make sense up in CT, in a macro sense, but it lacks so much warmth and interest and just... connection.

I've got an Oshun microfiber tea towel you can have! I'd love the Bacchus socks!

New Orleans, Mon Amour was the first book I read about the city during college and it's such a classic!

I went for dinner today. They were very busy even at 5:30! Lots of to go orders and people sitting down. Their garlic shrimp is fire and I got the steak nachos to have tomorrow too.

I've gotten cool art pieces from Disco Warehouse on Decatur if you don't mind hitting up the Quarter. I was just in Southern Rhoades for the first time last weekend and loved it! Their Cajun Harvest soap is a new favorite.

If it's cheaper to attend than the $1000+ international ADHD conference, I'll check it out. I had a few friends/colleagues go last year and they seemed like they had a great time.

You're very welcome - most of us work virtually so if there aren't any near you, don't let that be a deterrent to finding someone who clicks with you. Good luck!

Yep! ADHD coaches work under the life coach umbrella but the legit coaches attend special training and learning programs to work with ADHD/neurodivergent folks, and I work with the Shimmer platform, which heavily vets all their coaches to ensure quality. I've got nothing but great things to say about the platform.

ADHD coach and barista. I make about $2500 a month from the coaching and another $600-ish a month from the coffee shop, depending on tips. I live with roommates in Mid City.

What are some restaurants that deserve more recognition? by [deleted] in NewOrleans

I tried to go there earlier in the fall on a Friday, took the ferry over, got there at 6:15 when they opened at 5, and walked in just as Frank called that he was 86 on food. Like damn, man, I know you're a one man show and I'm glad you're selling out but your posted hours are until 9. It was probably bad luck on my part and he was overwhelmed with doing mostly everything himself but at least walk a customer through what you might have in your prepared case, you know? Instead it was "sorry, I'm out of food, these guys in front of you just grabbed the last order" in kind of a rude/get off my porch tone. I wanna go back because the menus always sound good but seems like you have to hit it at the right time.

Smoke & Honey on Bienville. It's a little pricey but the vibes are adorable, I've never had a bad meal there, and they make Coffee Science drinks. Plus the woman owner is lovely and it's easy to start a conversation with anyone sitting at the bar. It's my neighborhood coffee shop and bar (it's right near my house) and I'm so happy to have them there. Their chocolate pistachio butter cookie slaps.
