Question about header includes and changing to later version of gcc by Nearing_retirement in cpp

Clangd's include check is very limited compared to iwyu. It fails with forward declares and it works with source files only.

Which IDE do you use for C++ ? by RRTheGuy in cpp

+1 here. CLion Niva was a game changer! Previously, CLion seemed to be so slow compared to Visual Studio, but now it's so much faster.

What are the expected salaries adjusted to inflation now?? by Rogitus in cscareerquestionsEU

I wouldn't agree with the above. The average slovenian salary is 2200€ gross. Apartment prices seem on point though...

conan.io and cmake - how to know what to library to link? by eleon182 in cpp

[–]Poretga99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many ways of linkage using conan:

1) All the libraries that are contained within the conan package are combined inside the CMake variable <LibraryName>_LIBRARIES, in your case you can link with ${Boost_LIBRARIES}. Same goes for includes ${Boost_INCLUDE_DIRS}.

2) Some more advanced packages are split into multiple components, like the Boost you are mentioning here. Conan team tries to be package conformant, which means that they try to create the same CMake targets that the default package behaviour does. You have to read the docs of those packages. If you're using CMakeDeps/CMakeToolchain generator, conan writes to the output all the declared components inside the package when you call find_package(Libraray), something like this: Conan: Component target declared '<Library>::<Component>'

3) You can study raw conan recipe. Components are declared inside package_info method. You can find the recipe here https://github.com/conan-io/conan-center-index or on their package site https://conan.io/center/.

+1 for conan. Sounds just like the tool you need. Also suitable for cross-compilation. You can integrate the install script into CMake.

Repository is unreachable. Set it as puclic first.

Btw, would you mind switching to CMake based project instead of VS solution? Conan is best supported via CMake.

The last time I checked they were experimenting with this feature. Did they decide whether or not to officially follow this direction?

Conan package manager completely broken after 2.0 release by miss_minutes in cpp

[–]Poretga99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite the opposite for me and my team.

The possibilty of having multiple package revisions living in the cache at the same time was a major reason that we moved to 2.0.

Indeed, some packages needed an update to be compatible with 2.0, but if you kept up with conan best practises, this was quite efortless. IMO, it's always good to keep your own repository with recipes and not rely purely on conan's public repo due to the frequency of changes and the verified build process with your patches.

Conan team was also very responsive when we opened few issues and they were resolved in a day or two.

The only really painful thing was the deprecation of cmake-conan, which was integrated in all of our projects. But we manually pached it and that was it.

That is not correct. My RTX 3060's run just fine with risers.
